New Slogan

I think the slogan again this year is " Tribe " related , will the SANFL alter it next year ? Considering the blatant attempt to attract SANFL followers( free tickets to NAB round 1 , 2 AFL games a year for members) due to both AFL clubs crowds declining which is due to ticket prices , poor time slots , poor form and a dictator running the AFL , will the SANFL have the courage to tackle this head on through a promotion to attract the traditional footy follower and kids.I am thinking something like .... SANFL, TRADITIONAL FOOTY" , similar to the real footy adds to a degree but a promotion differentiating the franchise type AFL team against clubs with nearly 100 years of tradition( more in some cases). What do you think ?

do any posters think that in 20,30 or 50 years time we will be watching 2 codes of aussie rules similar to the rugby.
The AFL will be like union where play keeps moving and the ANFL and grass roots footy being the league counterparts.

I just cant see grass roots and ANFL keeping up or wanting to adopt the continual rule changes of the AFL.

I think most rule changes will be adopted by the lower levels most of the time. At least the rules they can follow. Cricket has been doing that for a long time with reasonable success.

I think there will only ever be one footy code, with the AFL being the instigators of most rule changes.

Not me. Quite the opposite in fact. The AFL will govern all leagues and the game will be the same from AFL to SANFL/WAFL/VFL to u/16's or so with modified rules remaining in place for juniors.

Won't matter what the slogan is this year, it's not as if they'll have buckets of money to promote the SANFL with advertising.

Who are these slogans actually aimed at?

I think that the tribal theme worked.

It catches the essence of SANFL which is very tribal - a quick read of the comments on this site will confirm that.

Congratulations to the SANFL for doing something right (from someone who has been critical of them from time to time).

Interesting thoughts Danielsahn .. Having just returned from Melbourne, I managed to catch quite a bit of footy-chat on SEN.

One topic if particular note, was the number of AFL clubs now wanting to join Collingwood and Geelong, by not having any ties to VFL clubs .. You would imagine that eventually that would extend to all AFL clubs, and what then becomes of the VFL clubs?

According to the commentators, only the few that have gaming machines would survive, without AFL assistance/governance.

If they run one state league, how long before they look to run the others?

Also, how long then before the 2 South Australian clubs look to own their own licenses?

Oh, and before I get labelled an AFL conspiracy theorist, part of this post is fact and the other part speculation, but reasonable speculation I would have thought .. Interesting times ahead.

No conspiracy theorist at all , Matt Benson raised or speculated if you like this at last nights AGM . I would suggest a real threat and allclubs know it.

I think many punters have always believed it was on the cards.
