South Adelaide Football Club will wear an alternate strip in four SANFL League matches in 2011.
The alternate jumper keeps the tradition of the famous Blue and White with a reverse of the current jumper. The jumper has been designed to be used in matches where there is a clash .
Football Manager Neill Sharpe said the move to wear a clash jumper had been borne from necessity.
“There is definitely a shift in the SANFL to play more night football and our Club is going to be a big part of that in 2011 and into the future.
“After the West Adelaide night game last year we felt we needed to have provision for a clash strip against some teams.
“There is certainly no need to wear it in games against North Adelaide, Sturt, Central Districts and Woodville-West Torrens. However, there is certainly a case to wear it in matches, which is heightened at night, against Norwood, West Adelaide, Glenelg and Port Adelaide.”
In season 2011 the Panthers will wear it in the following games:
Round 6 v West Adelaide (away)
Round 10 v Glenelg (home night game)
Round 12 v Norwood (away)
Round 23 v Norwood (away)
The Panthers will also wear the alternate jumper in its first trial match against West Adelaide at Hickinbotham Oval on March 12 starting at 6.30pm.
Looks like a Captain and two deputies then to me.
