Alternate strip for South announced

South Adelaide Football Club will wear an alternate strip in four SANFL League matches in 2011.
The alternate jumper keeps the tradition of the famous Blue and White with a reverse of the current jumper. The jumper has been designed to be used in matches where there is a clash .
Football Manager Neill Sharpe said the move to wear a clash jumper had been borne from necessity.
“There is definitely a shift in the SANFL to play more night football and our Club is going to be a big part of that in 2011 and into the future.
“After the West Adelaide night game last year we felt we needed to have provision for a clash strip against some teams.
“There is certainly no need to wear it in games against North Adelaide, Sturt, Central Districts and Woodville-West Torrens. However, there is certainly a case to wear it in matches, which is heightened at night, against Norwood, West Adelaide, Glenelg and Port Adelaide.”
In season 2011 the Panthers will wear it in the following games:
Round 6 v West Adelaide (away)
Round 10 v Glenelg (home night game)
Round 12 v Norwood (away)
Round 23 v Norwood (away)
The Panthers will also wear the alternate jumper in its first trial match against West Adelaide at Hickinbotham Oval on March 12 starting at 6.30pm.

Looks like a Captain and two deputies then to me.

Excellent, particularly with the blue shorts (Nick Liddle) the white shorts look too much of a washed out look. Initially against this but given our exposure to night footy and the tradition of the jumper has been kept together with the return of hooped sox this is a good alternative.

Its a pretty obvious alternative strip, and it took em long enough to figure it out.

Norwood had to wear our away strip at home games for the last few years against them.

Looks ok tho.

Probably the best alternate strip going around...

Hoo Ray, at long last, and it looks great, blue shorts would still clash with Norwood at the Parade games,
but aside from that looks better with blue shorts and hooped socks, well done the Panthers!

Cheers

Two thumbs up particulary the one with the navy shorts.

Great work South, obvious and simple but most times sanity doesnt prevail, here it has.

yep looks ok.. I dont like the idea of discarding tradition but it is obvious the new guernsey is to avoid a clash with other teams-particularly under lights, so so be it.
Nick liddles' looks the best for mine and I do like the hooped socks .

Going by the photo setup one would expect the odds on Nick Murphy becoming Souths next captain will be shortening dramatically...... 8)

Well, a guernsey is a knitted woolen jumper and a jumper is something that is worn over another layer of clothing, perhaps it might be time for a new name?

Perhaps a guernper?
