Word coming out of the HOF function last night that Labor have promised to fund Glenelg Oval's lights should they win the election.
Good news, no idea of the time line though

What was that jibe again that a Glenelg supporter said to me at the Bay earlier this year...something about being on welfare from the government...(8 years full-time employed and counting...)

Not half as amusing as the bloke at HH Oval this year who declared that he likely earned more than me.
I'd have thought that anyone pulling that sort of money might have gotten his teeth fixed, but there you go.

Did the Sports minister make this promise?
I have it on good authority that there will be night footy south of Glenelg oval next year......

Put the words "Labor" and "promise" together and believe it at your own peril.

booney, i reckon that's with all the parties.....anyway win lose or draw the $190,000.00 is guaranteed.....i thought why didn't they round it up to $200,000.00
ps, glenelg supporting kate couldn't make it so we had to listen to the west adelaide number 1 ticket holder instead

who did mention he could be swayed to move over to the bay (i thought ''well that's a real number 1 supporter''

)

The only certain thing in politics is when they say they won't do something for you ... anything else during an election campaign should be taken with a grain of salt.

would be great provided the weather is good (would be freezing on a cold windy night in the middle of the season.) so most night games would be likely to be played early and late in the season.
Interestingly with Central, Norwood, West and Glenelg having lights there wouldn't be to many day games in the first 5 rounds and last 5 rounds.
Personally i would love to see North Adelaide have a crack at getting lights up to play Saturday night games, think Prospect would be great at night and is in a really good location similar to Norwood.

our council (holdfast) (three of them anyway) is/was hard enough to deal with, what would the local council up there be like to deal with ?

agreed on that & would like to see them at every ground eventually, night games do add more atmosphere & people to the games, don't know why though

If night footy was to go ahead next year at Noarlunga, Norwood, Richmond,& Elizabeth, at what time slot would you like to see the matches start, and would Friday be the preferred night or Saturday night, bearing in mind that people traveling to either Noarlunga and Elizabeth could have a fair bearing on attendances, as they would have to leave straight from work and arrive home fairly late.

Saturdays for Central, proven to be popular and attracts crowds.
Noarlunga would probably have to be a Saturday night as the majority of people wouldn't finish work until 5ish on a Friday afternoon then may struggle to be at Noarlunga at 6.30-7ish

Seeing as the current member for Hindmarsh (ALP) made the announcement I wonder if the former candidate for Morphett (Cr Looker) and main provocator against the GFC within City of Holdfast Bay Council will get told to pull his head in and support this plan.

The Bay would be perfect for night footy, especially early in the season before the weather gets too shitty. Would rather go there than the Parade to be honest.
