Has it been mentioned if the games to be shown on Foxtel will be called on the radio also? Will 5AA be giving the games or will stations like Life or RPH take a feed from their contempories interstate?

I know the LifeFM crew will be keen to call any interstate games as we were planning a road trip for the Vic v SA State League game that was supposed to be played in Melbourne.
Without speaking on behalf of anyone in an official capacity at LifeFM, I believe that it has been discussed but I would suggest PhilH may be able to shed some more light on this.

Apparantly the station that does the WAFL games in Perth have been told they will not be allowed to broadcast the games.

Would love to do it & I think that the crew at LifeFM would be happy to self fund a road trip or 2 to make it happen.
However
1) how would it affect our normal SANFL broadcasts ? (we would probably run two teams for that week)
2) would we be allowed to broadcast them given Foxtel are putting in the money ?
Then again Foxtel pay massive money for AFL games and radio is allowed to broadcast.
Let's just say the LifeFM commentary crew will seek to get the station and others on board, whether it happens or not is another matter.

Does community radio in Qld, WA, Vic broadcast the state league matches? If so could Life or RPH tap into their feed and rebroadcast it?

It will be live on TV so the need for radio call diminishes

Well, cricket is live on TV but that only increases my need to hear the radio call

But it's Pay TV and not everyone can afford it or chose not to have it so surely there will be an allowance for the respective states have some radio representation, at least I certainly hope so.

Pubs, clubs, friends etc - if someone wants to see it they will be able to

But I'm sure the majority of supporters would want ot broadcast on radio...

It's bad enough trying to listen to the radio broadcasts of SANFL matches where they know most of the players.
Just imagine how they will go with a whole team they don't know anything about.

I'm worried about who will call the games for fox! They won't know anything about BOTH teams.
I can hear it now... "and with that goal the team with the essendon jumpers lead by 26 points"

Sounds like an improvement on the average 5RPH call then!

Appreciate the feedback about LifeFM's broadcasts both good and bad.
If would be good if any negative feedback on LifeFM was specific as it would help us take it on board (as we have in the past) and further improve what we do. As I have said before our broadcast is there for the benefits of the listeners.
Yes If we broadcast the game we would know little about the opposition but it was the same with the state game in WA 2 years back. For that we used the WAFL & a source in WA to send us info in the week leading up, plus we studied numbers & the WAFL Football Budgets on the flight over and night before the match.
For the state game we partnered with Sport 91.3 in terms of people (they supplied us a local for special comments) and I supplied them with profiles and stats of the SA players plus did a half time interview with them.
It is very tricky to do a joint broadcast from a community radio perspective mainly due to the doubling of sponsor mentions and aligning breaks which leave us vulnrable to breaking broadcasting rules on time limits. (Happened to VFL community station when they joined with a WA one for an interstate game back in 2007). Commercial radio stations do not have such restrictions.
The Vic, WA & Tas leagues have radio coverage, I dont think NSW / ACT or Qld do... would make sense for us IF we did an interstate trip to again bring in someone from that state to give us the other sides perspective and background.
BTW - The games will not be telecast on Foxtel LIVE, most will be in 30-60 minute delay.
This is so the champions leage telecast ends just before the Saturday night game starts when in reality there is a 40-50 minute break between matches.
