North finally get alternate jumper right!

Postby Wedgie » Tue Dec 21, 2010 9:19 am

This guernsey I love (especially after the most recent horror).
Traditional and simple is best!

looks really good,

why do they need an alternative guernsey though, wouldnt they want to wear there traditional guernsey each week especially since they dont clash with anyone.

EXACTLY! Why do we need to go down this path? Maybe when it's really muddy you might need an alternative jumper, why do we have to do what everyone else does??

Given that the club has now entered the Champions league there may be a clash of guernseys at some stage either in the minor round matches or in the finals rounds hence the need for an alternative guernsey if a clash arises. The predominantly white Guernsey will work well on Ethiad stadium or other night venues when their matches are broadcast around Australia in the competition, its the same reason that Collingwood have since adopted a different guernsey, not to clash but to assist in the match day presentation for the national TV audience.

Looks like the Swans.
Does that mean Norwood can heavilly recruit from North like we have done with the Swans over the last 5 years ? ;)

Can not see any reason for North to have an alternative given they have one of the best jumpers in the comp already.
Who do the clash with ? West wearing their alternative strip ?
Either way is an improvement on the last one.

Striking design - nice and simple.

Look good with both red and white shorts.

Really don't see what the drama is about away/alternate/clash guernseys.

Especially when they're done like this...

Dont tell me the North hierachy are finally listening to their supporters.

- Its the ONLY alternate jumper that 90% of members have been wanting since the idea was 1st mentioned :D :D

Now if they could just lift the VEE on both jumpers they would have it spot on.

I think everyone agrees the Vee should be higher, but hey, step at a time, hopefully this shows the club might now actually be listening to it's members on things like this.
Only other small change I'd make is having the white emblem badge on the red guernsey and vice versa but I'm happy as I've been asking for this guernsey originally worn in the 30s by North for many years.

I was hoping the great Stripes would make a comeback !! , It would be a fantastic away guernsey and give supporters and members the best of both worlds with those who grew up with the V happy and those of us who loved and grew up in the 80's and 90's happy. Last time we won a flag was in that jumper !!!

LOL, clash jumper in the SANFL??? :-s

Looks like a journey down a forgettable memory lane a'la Central in the Hicks era. :D

Of course it will make all the difference for the Motlops and the like ... it's the inspiration they need to actually give something to the jumper. :ymdaydream:

Its not a clash guensey, it's an alternate strip, hence the title of this thread. And if it's a trip down memory lane it reminds us North fans of the guernsey the great Ken Farmer wore in the 30s.
I love it!
