... at least, that should be the headline.

We've been telling all you non-believers for months that this was the answer, but you blindly refused to accept it.

The original proposal was predicted to conservatively add $1.9M to the PAFC bottom line. Here's a $1.8M injection without even considering Gordon Pickard.

Read it for yourselves http://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/n ... fault.aspx and in case you miss it http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8183614

With more good news to emanate from Alberton, I'm certain you'll all be lining up to offer a hearty congratulations.

Well done so now maybe you can start to pay back the millions of dollars you have bludged off the SANFL for as long as the Power has been in the competition !

Maybe with all that cash you can pay people to turn up to your matches. Although with these new sponsors you can get some new tarpaulins made up to cover more of your empty seats.

So a few blokes raised some money, they probably would've done that without the merger.

If people start turning up to Power games, then come back to this thread.

No, the PAFC generated the $$ in the first place, so I reckon I'll be happy for them to keep it. Good suggestion though.

"We made the money in someone else's stadium, with a licence someone else paid for, spent a shitload on brand new facilities and upgrades then put our hand out for more money, but everything we generated is ours, all of it" :-k
I'll reserve my congratulations for 3-5 years and see if the Port faithful are still backing up their chivalrous club.

I agree it's good news. A strong Power might lead to increased SANFL distributions (though i doubt it).
Hopefully, now they can pay back the recent SANFL loan? Or at least start to. I'm not concerned about the AFL getting their minimal loan back.

Hopefully the club has enjoyed their week at theme parks on the Golf Coast. Money must be tight after announcing another 2 million dollar loss.

I think the players funded much of this trip IIRC ( from what I have heard ) - the Theme Park side of the trip anyway.

How about the $200 000 the Magpies received from the SANFL this year just to survive and the $5 million the Power recieved from the AFL because they get low crowd figures.

The new merger still needs to pay back $3 million then, hurry up.

Also, from memory in 2009, they received (port Power) $3.5 million from the SANFL.

Clearly I dont have access to the numbers, yet the figure on the media at one stage was a 1.8 - 2 mil loss. Considering the 1.3 that goes out of the budget to run the Magpies team of the club I think blind freddy can see what is going to happen to get the club back to profit.

Yeah well done Port. The merger is tracking well and having both clubs in a national competition next year can only help to promote the brand.

Yes, the old PAP take on that $1.3m max commitment but they also get the existing revenue streams of the old PAM - memberships, merchandise, that Hotel etc. I don't know what that figure is but it's > $0!.

Already it seems OnePA is generating more revenue than PAM and PAP were generating on their own.

Give it time before we start back on the doomsday crystal ball predictions I reckon!

Good post .. A financially healthy Port should realistically be in everyone's best interests .. Hat's off to them for getting out of the blocks so quickly.
