South will report a profit of $200,000 for season 2010. This also takes into account an increase in expenditure of $85,000 into both Senior and Junior Football development.

Average attendance's for the year were 2,150 up 45% in the last 5 years.

The new lighting has been paid for and is scheduled to be ready for the start of the 2011 season.

At least off field the foundations are their for stability. On field success still awaits. Boundary issues still of major concern.

Of course they recorded a profit. They control a well run, function and gaming venue, and keep the vast majority of the revenue.

Good luck to them.

I think that is not a bad effort, to have paid for the lighting project and to have taken a 200k profit on the top of it, - hopefully the lights lead to higher attendance's and further takings for the club.

problem! what if the new lights reflect off of the car windscreens, thus temporarily blinding the players & coaches?

Paying for the lights is a capital expense therefore doesnt come into the clubs P & L therefore does not affect their profit.

No I meant us!! Normally you hate teams that cause you grief, SA certainly don't do that yet I find a lot of negativity towards us from ML.....

Nor a runaway dog, noisy neighbours, suspected terrorist activity etc etc.

I guess you can rub it in being a Central's supporter.

They're not a Central's supporter. I suspect you were being cynical.

P.S Well done South, from a Central supporter.

As a long term Southie i recall decades of no profit and continual financial difficulties including the first 10 years at Noarlunga Oval or Southern Sporting Complex as it was called where the club had to pay $100k pa for leasing a facility that few wanted to attend and that the club couldn't improve.
To be reporting profits, dramatically improving our club and ground facilities (indeed to actually have our own home ground after 100 years of not having one) fills me with pride and optimism for our future and all true Southies should feel the same.

Any profit is welcome - Great work Panthers.

I have my fingers crossed for a profit down Richmond Way after some bleak reports in recent years

Yeah kudos to south. We should all want every club to make a profit. As much as i hate every side on the field i hope every side is financially secure off field.
