DIVIDENDS

Postby Mark_Beswick » Sat Nov 20, 2010 5:17 pm

Now the Magpies and Power have formed a new united club :?

The magpies can't take a crow player in the mini-draft

DOES this also mean, they are no longer entitled to a share in the crows profit thus making the dividend 1/8th per club instead of 1/9th

The Power would still need to contribute a dividen to their owners (SANFL clubs) and they are funding the Magpies administratevly

Does anyone know the outcome related to SANFL dividends with the new arrangement?

Like many others, I don't know, but you can guarantee one thing. However it works out, you can bet it will be to Port's advantage.

The Magpies are no longer a shareholder in the SANFL and have forfeited their share in Football Park. The Magpies receive 1.3million from the Power to run their club each year, no dividends are paid by either the SANFL or the Crows.

What would be the average yearly dividend given to each SANFL club from the SANFL and the crows since their inception?
Where does the 1.3 million dollar figure come from?

I'm sure if the power ever become profitable they would be able to prop up the magpies over that figure in different ways.

Just guessing mate, but I reckon the 1.3mil would be comparative to their recent football department spend (give or take a little bit)

Ahh.. there's the rub! ;)
I expect they will now be even less likely to attract supporters not already in the Port camp, as the Power are no longer an independent entity.

I do still tend to support them against Melbourne based teams though.

Wont happen. This would assume that the Power love the idea of spending money on the Magpies and would spend more if they had it. They'd spend it on the AFL operation if they had more cash.

There's nothing altruistic about the merger from the Power side.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Well given the dividend (as I understand it) includes money from the AFL for each SANFL club to deliver the development programs in their zones, I would magine some money would still be going from the SANFL to the PAFC so the development work in the Port Magpies area can continue.

However as my club has found out the money is not enough to do the development work properly (hence why we have junior fundraising raffles and the like) so one hopes the juniors in the PAFC area aren't going to be disadvantaged by penny pinching. One would hope all the AFL/SANFL money for development work (auskick schools programs etc) will go towards that and no other expenditure within the internal machinations of the PAFC.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The 1.3 million figure is calculated by the SANFL and is the average spend of all of the league clubs. It will be closely monitored by the SANFL who have representatives on the PAFC board so hard to imagine it being tampered with.

Hard to imagine? I find that very simple to imagine. They may be quite creative, but I'm sure they're already working out little schemes to get around scrutiny. Hard to imagine? Clearly, you are Mr. Optimistic.

Well Central District learned on-field from us in the 90's, so hopefully we can now learn off-field from them now.

Port should just start with Basic management 101. "Hard to imagine it being tampered with", very funny. For Port, it's harder to imagine it not being tampered with.
Serious question, who paid out Mark Williams contract? Did it come from the SANFL "loan"? Not sure if this has already been answered.

What interest would Power have in giving the Magpies a cent more than they're obliged to? The $1.3m is a maximum, they're not even obliged to allocate all of that.

I'm confused is ONE PAFC going to create a mega SANFL club with an unfair advantage or is the mean stingy PAFC going to bleed the Maggies dry?

It seems that in their rush to criticise the evil PAFC people are happy to say both!
