What I found interesting was the wording on the front page of the Sunday Mail,

"Rising SANFL star Todd Grima"

Michael Aish used to wear a padded helmet in the 1980's, its hardly a new idea!

As far as protective clothing goes it doesn't look any different from the sort of gear rugby players wear these days.

If it helps prevent injury, especially long term injuries, and can even help prolong a few worthy playing careers without impeding on the way they play then I don't see a problem with it. I'm sure a lot of you scoffed when batsmen started wearing helmets and face guards...I know my old man did...reckon this is no different and just as inevitable.

JAS

Sweet, that's good news that we will still be around in 15 years time and won't have rolled belly up and merged like some other little clubs had to.

Proud of the past, confident of the future. 8)

Full body armour, a la the storm troopers in Star Wars for all forms of sport. ;)
[Except Soccer where it would impair the acting.]

Err... let's not forget the REASON for that merger you talk of... A certain club down the road who stabbed everyone in the back... $300 000 in 1989 = what in 2010 ? $4.5 Million + $250, 000 advance dividend + more ???

Proud of the PAST ???
Hmmmm...

Year 2025: SANFL bring in a new rule - If you are found guilty of posing for a stupid photo in the paper you receive an instant 5 week ban.

I thought Todd was the perfect model for that style of football.

Actually, by 2025 we'd be able to describe Todd as "old and slow".
