Didn't realise he had a dual role. Good recruit for the PFC right there ;)

I've always sen the footy manager as being a purely off field role, hence the q.

I guess they dont have to pay him as much for playing now, just bump up his footy manager payments.

Damon was a player/assistant coach. James Moore was the football manager i believe. and there was nothing new with Damon taking the dual roles, North have had several player/assistant coaches in recent history.

Why is that? Norwood would do the same thing if given half a chance.

Think you'll find that this means that the Club does not think Trent is going to play much Football this year....

Hypothetically of course, is there anything stopping a club paying a player $150k to be a football manager and $10k to play football? Only the $10k would be in the cap wouldnt it?

I dont think there is. Nor would there be anything stopping Goodrem or Archard getting paid over the odds by their respective Clubs! Think the only thing is the SANFL checking the relevant employment contracts to make sure that there payments are in line with the industry....

The way you're talking though Dutchy you'd think Glenelg have never done anything shady!

Norwood just blatantly exceed the salary cap.
You will find that the SANFL will monitor closely the amount of playing salary that is in the cap and how much is allocated to admin. for Hentschel. The SANFL will require in the cap an amount relevant to his status as a player.

As someone said earlier in the thread, he can't be expected to play much next season. Either that or they don't expect a lot of work out of their football manager. Not sure how a player can do the recruiting, contract negotiations etc that would be expected.
