Will be very sadly missed at the SAFC. A man taken well before his time.

A sad year for our club losing two truely great Southies in Allan Hickinbotham and now Colin Francis who both stood by the club in the late 1980's when it looked likely that the club would fold under the weight of debt. These blokes put their heart, soul and money into SAFC and so long as every SANFL club have supporters of this character whose passion burns brightest when adversery strikes both our clubs and our comp will survive all VFL/AFL attempts to weaken and damage its brand. The SANFL clubs are owned by folks like Allan and Colin whereas those that wish to destroy it are owned by commercial TV and corporate identities.

Sad news for the Panthers and the footy community in general .. Stalwarts are the backbone of every footy club, and they sacrifice so much for the love of their club.

Thoughts are with family and friends of Colin.

Great post.

A really great post.

Colin was a proud, passionate supporter of the club and also the SANFL.He was blue in one eye and white in the other; and stood behind the club in its darkest years, when people like Col and Alan Hickinbotham stood fast to prevent the club going under. Colin will be sadly missed by all Southies;it is very unfortunate that Colin wont see a game under lights at his beloved Hickinbotham Oval.
RIP Col.
