What type of player does your club need to recruit this year

Postby whufc » Mon Oct 11, 2010 9:16 am

Will your club be after the 200cm+ ruckmen is a hard nosed midfielder more important, what areas do you think your club need to work on and recruit to.

Personally at Centrals i think we would need to recruit

1x FF/CHF = Alan Obst will hopefully come back and fill that void
1x Key Position Defender- needs to be ready made to play SANFL
1x Utility- Expecting Leigh Spurr to leave, we need someone who is ready made to fill his role.

and possibly another ruckmen depending on whether Buckets MacKenzie decides to stay on or not.

At the Eagles we need a couple forwards who can kick a few goals. Aswell as a couple backs.

Combination of Ruckman, Key Forward and onballers .. And that's before replacing:

Weatherald (end of his career I know but still performed a role)
Trotter (physical presence and workrate)

And possibly:

Puopolo
Lower
Phillips
Jonas
Duigan

We also can't expect to have the same reliance on Zorsi and Gallagher given their age and bodies.

All in all, a LOT of work for the brainstrust to do.

Dogs need a player that stands up at big games.

Kind of the opposite player to Simon Phillips.

key Position players. TALLS.

A midfielder with a decent, penetrating kick and a small crumbing forward would also be nice.

West need some midfielders who can get the ball and kick it forward to a team mate, and we also need the team mate who can mark the ball kicked forward by the new midfielders.

Pace through the midfield to replace Brodie Smith and Jared Polec, who became important players for us towards the end of the season. Also need a Full Forward and would still be looking for a CHB.

Agree Aerie, plus a hard-working, no-frills type midfielder if Powell only has another year and Rowntree gets drafted.

Royal ..... Simon Phillips had a good finals series and won the game against the Eagles with a brilliant goal.
Bit hard to play well when some coward breaks your jaw !
You are a poor judge as Port Power just picked Flipper up today !

Redlegs need a ruckman assuming Doyle does not come up.
Also a strong key forward.
Our youngsters will cover the other losses.

I think the Pies just need experience. Plenty of kids coming through, just need 3 or 4 smart recruits. Dont have to be ex-AFL, but a few players from other SANFL clubs. A key forward and a couple of big bodied mids maybe.

ps. is there any footage online of this Callinan/Phillips bump?
