Not sure if this is a good thing or not,

In one sense the club has to tap into night footy as that is the short to mid term future of the competition as evidenced by the high crowds at Richmond this season.

The issue is that if the actual redevelopment does go ahead then it will not be permanant and Sturt will be looking for another home to move when the works begin on the ground, so its a short term option.

The other issue is the whole issue of Sturt having the home ground at Unley for which they have had to fight tooth and nail to keep. The ground desperatley needs upgrades to the training facilities which the club is negotiating with the council over. It makes their barganing postion appear somewhat weaker when the number of games the club plays there becomes less and less. At the same time although the mayor and other members of the council are supportive of the club there are others that are not and have been recorded in the media making statements like "they were not missed last time they left Unley Oval and will not be missed again once they leave" and so on.

Whilst something has to be done in relation to night footy, it could be difficult to convince the members to give up the games at Unley Oval to return to Adelaide. The short term would likely work ok, yet it could make things quite difficult for the clubs situation with the council over the medium term to gain redevelopments and the identity of the club.

The story says we'll still have 7 games at Unley. Not as big a change as you're making it sound.

I will never believe that the redevelopment is going ahead until the demolition of the Bradman Stand starts happening.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

It was either the Parade or Richmond as part of the survey IIRC. Prefer Adelaide anyway but my comment was referring to the redevelopment.

Good news!

Would probably prefer Norwood or Richmond but any night footy is good for the comp IMO

We didn't have Adelaide Oval in the survey because we didn't think we would be able to play there as yet. It would have been our first preference though.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but read with interest in the Sunday Mail today that with the Prospect Oval Grandstand redevelopment taking place at the moment, some of North Adelaide's early season home games are likely to be switched to Adelaide Oval.

My memory of Sturt leaving Unley last time (this is a partial move ) was that it had short term benefits in terms of money but in the long term it was not good for the club ( in terms of club rooms, sense of home ground etc) which still impacts on Sturt to this day.

I understand that setting up Unley for a game is quite expensive and this may be the forerunner to leaving Unley for good.

You'll have to wait until the draw comes out ME, I don't know...

I wouldn't think they would play an under 18's game solo at AO so they may make it triple headers?

Beer prices would want to be cheaper than they were at the cricket on the weekend!

My mail is that its currently being held up by the Foxtel competition to see if it gets the green light or not so that fixtures can be made around it.

i would think that the 18's would still play at prospect as not a big crowd puller.
