Only 2 Doggies players and the Bays having 6 is a tad surprising?

WOW this side has no credibility, how the hell can Andrew Hayes not be in that side

the others from Central i think were unlucky were Heath Lawry along with Leigh Spurr.

Funny once again in these teams of the year Central have only 2 players, a very low amount.

I guess the old saying rings true a champion team beats champion individuals.

LMAO - it only took one minute for that point to be raised!

It probably is surprising. There will also be the age old debate about whether the coach should be the premiership coach, or the minor round premier coach, or the coach who shows the most improvement, or the coach who does something else that is seen as special.

The Advertiser hasn't named their best umpires for 2010 either - should they do so?

I guess in effect the 3 GF umpires are the best 3 umpires of the year, personally i would have no issue if either Laird or Bassestt were awarded coach of the year despite the GF result, probably joint coaches of the year would be fitting.

Should Grima, Kirkby and Chambers all be in the same side? Chambo missed a fair few games at the back end of the year as well. A very good player is Chambo, but can he be squeezed in to the side for his 2010 year (notwithstanding he probably would have won the Ken Farmer if he hadn't been injured - but he was injured and missed a bunch of games).

I used to have a belief that when you put the personnel of the better teams under the microscope their best players were relatively even, but if you compared their last 6 players that's where the biggest difference would be found .. It doesn't always hold up, but a lot of the time I believe it does.

And that is an area where the Dogs have a leg up on everyone else I reckon .. They have blokes that just quietly go about their business, giving them such an even team out on the park and consistency of performance.

FWIW I agree with your call of Hayes non-inclusion, I would have had him in there for sure.

Why would they name 4 interchange players? Why not name a dozen or 50 if you're not going to adhere to the structure of a SANFL side.

Obviously this team isn't playing finals.

No Umpires No Match.

My selections would be Gary Fila, Colin Rowston and Theron Philp with a very good young umpire in Leigh Haussen a real chance.

Haussen and Philp will be on the AFL panel next year in my opinion.

This is a team based on the minor round so poor performances in the finals would not be a factor

Sheesh i guess winning all the time makes you forgotten.

Take the 5 black and gold pretenders in the starting line up out and replace with cdfc players and its about the right ratio of players.

I think they should have found a Port player to put in the team.

There are 4 on the bench in the u18s.

Lucky they named 4 on the bench otherwise Allan might have struggled to get into the 22!

These things are always subjective but I agree with the sentiments re the lack of Centrals players including Hayes.

So this is the u18s team of the year then?

Lawry and Hayes in for me. Overall the team smacks of some AFL fan reading a few match reports and picking the team based on that. 4 on the bench is a joke, as is no second ruck. If you don't pick the same sort of structure the clubs do based on the year then you might as well just name a top 20 players list.

FWIW I'd personally dump bench picking for these sides anyway. We don't need to cover injuries and give players a rest on paper. Then it becomes more a best player in each position type team, which is what it should be.

Norwood 5, Centrals 2. This means that Norwood obviously have better players than Centrals and therefore should be firm favourites for the flag this Sunday. ;)
