He didn't take part in the "wake" activities last weekend as he desperately hoped the permit would be granted, so would be training and playing again this weekend with his mates (maybe for the last time).

The same stupid rule cost Lachie McGregor the chance to play in the reserves grand final last year after he was promoted to the league team for the preliminary final the week before - his first league game of the season. Absolute insanity.
