Eagles website has Broadbent and Salter listed as tests so that would perhaps suggest if they are fit they will play. Redden (concussion), Hentschel (hamstring) and Lane (hamstring) are also listed as tests.

Treeby and Lewis are listed as season which is very unlucky.

Can the Eagles continue their great finals form?

I saw both games yesterday and both teams are capable of winning next week. Having said that I'll go the Redlegs, they looked a bit better on the day.

7 news just said Hentschel is an out
Hoping Salter and Broadbent can come in .
Otherwise Raynor , Daniel or Goldsworthy to come up .

Who ever wins or loses both coaches have done very well in their first year as league coaches.

Hopefully 7 news is wrong. I think Hentschel will be ok for this week and hopefully Redden is as well.

Early guess is Lewis and Treeby out and Broadbent and Daniel in.

I read on another thread somewhere that Salter and Broadbent haven't been training since the Crows last game. Is that true?

They play for the Power fish.
Heard on 5aa tonight that Salter and Broadbent are allowed to play this week.

Some sources say yes and others no, but to put it straight, the official word is at this stage:

Chris Davies wrote:Unfortunately, the Club can confirm that both Leigh Treeby (Ankle – structural damage) and Scott Lewis (Shoulder – AC joint) suffered season ending injuries during yesterdays match versus Glenelg. Both are likely to have surgery this week with a view to returning to pre-season training before Christmas.

We are hopeful that Jarrad Redden (concussion) and Trent Hentschel (hamstring cramp) will be available for this week’s Preliminary Final versus Norwood. Both players will face fitness tests later in the week.

Matthew Broadbent has recovered well from the quad injury he sustained in the final minor round match of the AFL season with the Power. The Club is expecting a decision from the Power medical staff on his availability in the next 48 hours.

Nick Salter will present to Power medical staff on Wednesday with a view to commencing a running program proving he is over the calf injury that saw him miss the final minor round match of the AFL season. The intention of which is to be available on Sunday.

Both Matthew and Nick are keen to prove their fitness to be involved in our Finals campaign and as players who came through our junior program before being drafted, we appreciate their commitment to our Club.

Regards
Chris Davies
CEO

Even with Treeby and Lewis the Eagles would have still been underdogs. Without them, can't really see it happening.
Our defence will have to play amazingly well and our forwards would have to take advantage of just about every single opportunity.
Norwood were reasonable yesterday, and I can't see their midfield being held all day against our midfield, plus the pace of Phillips and Donoghue.
Norwood by about 8 goals. (Although I am 0/4 from the finals.)

Salter and Broadbent are available subject to fitness tests, but the tests will be performed by port staff no WWT staff, so they will need to be 100% fit.

also Mick Godden said that Rowdy is very unlikely to get up

This should be a corker of a game,

Funnily enough both team would probably have taken a prelim appearance at the start of the year as being successful but now their both there whoever loses will see this as the one that got away.

I think the injuries to the Eagles will really hamper their chances, losing 2-4 quality players would hurt any side the Eagles are no different. Norwood were very good against Central for 1 1/2 hours and probably have room for improvement in them.

Whoever wins this will be worthy grand finalists/premiers?

If we have a Central v Norwood GF the crowd should be between 35-40K while a Central vs Eagles GF may see under 30K for this reason alone im gonna go with the legs.

So you mean the umpires will favour Norwood in the 50/50 decisions. ;)

bad luck for Lewis, Treeby and Hentshell

both Broadbent and Salter would be great replacement inclusions but they may be under done on match fitness

Goldsworthy would probably come in but I reckon if a the previous coach was still there he would have pulled a youngster out of the reserves or under 18s for the finals series

wonder if Godden is contemplating this?

maybe a Nathan Bately?

For Eagles fans, a sick reminder of who we're missing (get over it!): Robert Shirley won the Alex Jesaulenko trophy for Best on Ground in last Saturday's Canberra League plaing for victorious Ainslie

Matthew Broadbent has been cleared to play by the Power and is keen to pull on the blue, green and gold of the mighty Eagles. No word on Nick Salter yet though.
