The League is a joke...discuss!

One word.... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!

This league isn't fast becoming a joke... it's well and truly there. No wonder no one follows it, we're stuck in a re-run year after year and anyone who says this is good for the league is kidding themselves.

... and before Central fans come down with the "oh it's just cos your club is crap" type of stuff, I don't blame Central, it's the other 8 clubs, just woefully hopeless at competing in general and as a result, the league is a bloody joke.

I love my club, but admittedly, as each year goes by, I become less and less interested in football in general. The AFL is overly corporate and the SANFL has become a one-horse race season after bloody season.

Let's be honest, who really, apart from Dogs fans, has any real interest in the grannie this year?

I was so hoping Norwood would win just to put some life into the finals... but my hopes were dashed within 30 minutes. So now it's on to a ho hum match next week where someone wins the right to come runner up the following week.

Great.

Thank the heavens the A-League is up and running...

Errrm mate, who gets better crowds?

One game at Hindmarsh almost equals the entire SANFL round of attendees.

We have a party when 6,000 go to a game, whereas that crowd is rubbish at Hindmarsh.

Ask the SANFL whether they're on a winner with a one horse race.

No point in having a go at me, I've been following SANFL for 30 years, but just because I love my club, I'm not going to put my head in the sand and say the league is doing itself justice. The 8 crap clubs are letting the league down.

Besides... the more people that are put off the league, the worse it is for everyone involved.

A little over the top there Bowesy!
I agree that a Grand Final without the Dogs would be a welcome relief, but listening in to that game today I realised just what a buzz it would have sent around the SANFL if the Legs got up and beat them.
While it isn't quite in the same class of dominance, the only reason half of Australia gave a damn about the America's Cup back in '83 was because the same country won it year in year out. The prestige was inherted by the team that broke that run.
Like it or not (and to be honest, I don't) history is being made here, and while we can deride them in the face of their dominance, it is ill-thought to trash-talk the SANFL for allowing the dynasty to continue.
My main hope, aside from winning the flag is that Sturt become the first team to knock Centrals out of the finals race in over 11 years.
And wouldn't we all be celebrating then?
The greater the foe, the greater the celebrations when he finally topples over and falls. What is happening now is part of the character of the SANFL. Teams that win flags in this competition have earnt them. Unlike the AFL merry go around that has things just balanced so everyone gets a go.

Up and running is a bit much. Its broke and dying, wont be long before we have the NSL back which was more successful. The entire A League makes less than North Adelaide and that's with government subsidies!

Well done Dogs, the 2nd semi final record is phenomenal!

I do care, that's why I post.

If I didn't care, like 90% of SANFL fans from 20 years ago, I'd be following the Crows or someone else alone by now...

The comments above were to do exactly what they've achieved, get people replying, abusing, retorting. Maybe, just maybe, a bunch of dedicated SANFL fans on here don't give a toss who wins or loses and don't mind if one team dominates the league ad infinitum, but I'd suggest there are a bunch of fans on here, who love their club, love the league, but at the same time, are somewhat disillusioned by what they see going on and hope for a bit more.

I can see where your going with this post
However I dont mind seeing the best sides dominate in eras
SA 1890s
PA 1950s
ST 1960s
CD 2000s

I would rather see dominant champion teams instead of a fabricated draft where they take it in 4 year turns

I don't want the league to intervene either.

I want the other 8 clubs to pull their finger out and bloody well compete come September.

Surely the other 8 clubs aren't content?

Ive never really understood this mindset, and am surprised it comes from a Blues supporter given your magnificent achievement in 2002, no doubt made all the more great for the quality and dominance of opponent you beat.

As with the 90's and Port, every other club in the comp is out to get them so it takes something special to be as dominant as the Dogs are these days .. TBH if we can't beat them then I hope they keep winning, which it looks like they will .. We are privy to one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, era our competition has seen.

Ill bet there's a lot of people never get, or got, to see it for themselves - I'd always wished I'd seen Sturt of the 60's and Port of the 50's, so Im not about to whinge about this reign (whinging about what my own team has served up in that time is another matter).

I think it's because we (well some of us) want the league to be a "Choose Your Own Adventure"... at the moment it's like being given a book where you already know the ending... I'd just like to enjoy the GF more than once or twice a decade, it'd be good to see some new faces.

It's why I want South in the finals, that'd be bloody brilliant!

I think the other 8 sides can only dream to what Centrals dynasty is......we all want to be like them.

Hats off to them. It's boring as bat s**t....but its up to us to take it up to them.

Lets not complain.....and do something "Just do something!!!" ;)

and it was different in the 60's how?

I'm sure you're proud of that part of Sturts history, it's up to the other clubs to do something about it

My god some of you people are whingers.

Centrals were the laughing stock of the league for 40 years, let us enjoy it :)

Were you all whinging when sturt dominated the 60's and port dominated the 70's(??) and the 90's? Of course you did. Has the league changed at all? No.

SANFL is the best brand of footy in the country and thats why we all watch it. The dogs will eventually run their race. (hopefully another 5 or so years) :D

On the subject of jokes in the SANFL, disgraces, boringness and predictablness, why dont we just discuss the Glenelg Footy Club??? Surely their 100 year choking situation is more disgraceful and predictable than the doggies having a good decade :)
