It's Saturday afternoon, a beautiful day outside. Blue sky, perfect football weather, no game of AFL on the television.
WHY ... aren't the semi finals being played today? Are the SANFL so locked into the Sunday mindset that it never occured to them?
What could have been better than the footy on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon?
Rant over.

Good call. I have no idea why the WAFL grand final isn't today.
Do they think that people don't want to celebrate because the Saints are playing the Bulldogs on TV tonight?

If we stick to the same day each week of the finals no team is disadvantaged by having a 6 day break instead of both having 7 days.
People who want to support local football finals can go to that too and front up Sundays for the SANFL.
I have no problem with this at all.

First of all, Central didn't play last week, so they've had a longer break than Norwood no matter which day it's played, and the two teams in the 1st semi both played last Sunday, so there's no disadvantage to anyone.
Secondly, since when did the SANFL start fixturing to fall into line with the Amateur League?

When the fixtures were set there was the possibility of Port and/or Crows playing in the finals, and potentially having a home final, potentially Footy Park in use today. So they play it safe and programme games for a day it definitely won't clash with a potential AFL final in Adelaide. And once set, the SANFL clubs plan around the fixture dates so changing at this late stage may cause difficulties.
Not their fault our AFL teams failed to make the grade.

While you're at it AH, why the heck do they keep the prelim and grand finals at a 3.10 start when every other afternoon game during the season bar the first two weeks of finals is 2.10?

AH if you are an injured player 1 day can be the diffrence between playin and not playing.
You want to play this week on Saturday after we played the first two weeks on Sunday ? Look at the subject heading of you post ..." WHY ? "
Clubs know all finals are on Sunday and can plan around that.
