The big question is on the Bays heading into this one and how they will respond to yesterday's dissapointing game against the Redlegs. Perhaps like Mick Godden did with the Eagles poor game against Sturt last week, maybe Mickan needs to completely forget yesterday's game, not even look at the tape. Glenelg need to find that hunger that saw them play some very good minor round football.

The Eagles will be full of confidence after a superb elimination final win, an amazing 108 point turn-around from the week before. The forwards of the Eagles who returned to the side kicked 11 of their 17 majors and they are dangerous players in Grocke, Welsh and Hentschell. Glenelg's forwards will need to lift in Kirkby and Grima but so will the delivery from their midfield.

This one could go either way and will be a great game I feel. Not sure who to tip at this stage, might sit on the fence for a few days first...

Although that being said, I have added the word 'maybe' as well to reflect what I meant more accurately...

but with the Eagles v sturt they also had changes in the line up

im sure Godden wouldnt have completely forgotten about the week before

Both coaches know how each other works and I feel Godden will get the result on sunday

Is Matty Bode likely to return for the Tigers?

I though his experience and goal kicking ability was missed yesterday for the Tigers...

I would have thought Bode and Mules highly unlikely. 20% chance.

Bode will be playing next week

dont think Mules will play - his loss was more hurtful then Bodes, albeit Bode is a very good player for us, but Mules just sets it up from defence

Two good, hard-fought games during the year, where the Bays looked just slightly better and were able to convert multiple goals when they had the run-on.
Mules is obviously a huge loss. Bode would be a welcome addition as he seems to always bob up with a couple of goals at important times.
Broadbent would be a huge in as we need more mid-field depth to match the Bays. It looked yesterday like our mid-field was just about stuffed half way through the third quarter, and this has been a vital time in both the Bays games - at the Bay they got a run on of goals, at Woodville we didn't capitalise on the breeze and let them get a couple into it.
Hentschel is about ready to do something special, and he might just be the turning point.
Hard to read too much into yesterday I reckon, because Norwood were so good and Sturt were so poor.

Well, if they are two games clear of second place going into the final round and then lose.....

Surely there's a fair bit of pressure on Rubbers' position too.
Glenelg would want to see their coach produce a plan that's capable of winning finals.

One of my earliest football memories.
1981 Final round. Glenelg was top of the table, lost only two games for the season.
Sturt was 6th having lost the week before and one game behind West in 5th.
Sturt, despite having a poor season and no hope of getting near the Bays, had to defeat Glenelg in the final round to have any hope of making the five.
I missed the radio call of the game owing to a family day out and had to wait for the Sunday Mail the following day.
Although West also won on the same day, and effectively shut the door on the Blues' finals campaign, Sturt pulled off an unexpected victory to inflict just the third loss on the Tigers for 1981, and left them warming up for the finals as minor premier "on the back of a loss".
As a post script, I was so happy when I saw the result in the paper and the huge headlines heralding Sturt's unexpected win that I ran into my second elder brother's room (Glenelg fan) waving the newspaper in question euphorically and woke him up with the words "Sturt beat Glenelg!"
I remember he picked me up and threw me the length of the room, must have been some dream I interrupted, and started yelling that he didn't give a shit about football and didn't care that Sturt beat Glenelg.
Unfortunately for him, his temper reached the ears of my eldest brother, a die-hard Glenelg fan and football lover, and built like a brick shit-house. When brother number 2 finished his tirade at me, he turned around to see him, mouth drawn taunt under stone cold eyes, brow clenched in a knot of anger. "What did you say about FOOTBALL?" he growled at brother number 2 who was now making his way to the other side of his bed in an attempt to put an obstacle between him and the beast he had just enraged.
I began cheering euphorically for the second time that morning as the massacre unfolded before my eyes.

The last 3 times this has happened

1995 Centrals lost their last minor round match to Port in Round 24, they had the bye in round 25.
1994 Eagles lost the last minor round to Port
1992 Port lost their last minor round game
