I know it has been mentioned elsewhere but I think the Panthers skipper deserves a thread of his own. He has been a consistant goal kicker for South Adelaide and has stuck by them through the hard times, remaining loyal when there were better offers on the table.

Well done on a great career at an average club Mr Warren, good luck in retirement, I'm sure we will be reading about bags of goals kicked by one B.Warren for Langhorne Creek in the Sunday Mail next year. Good luck in your last game against the Bloods this coming weekend.

Have been lucky enough to interview Ben a couple of times and I must say he is one of the nicest guys in football, is a great bloke and at his prime, a very very good footballer.

From the Panthers...

SAFC wrote:South Adelaide Captain Ben Warren will play his final game this Saturday in the Round 22 clash at Hickinbotham Oval against West Adelaide.

Ben advised the players and staff on Wednesday last week that he wouldn’t be continuing beyond this season. He will finish on 163 games and hopefully add to his 344 goals against the Bloods.

Ben has been the Club’s leading goalkicker on five previous occasion and will more than likely be it for a sixth time this season.

In 2009 Ben made the Advertiser SANFL Team of the Year and was a State Representative in 2006.

On top of all that Ben has been outstanding South Adelaide person as well as player. The South Adelaide Football Club thanks Ben for his contribution to the Club and congratulates him on a fine career.

Good fella and fine footballer, it's for players like Ben you really feel for given the clubs limited success, loyalty deserves reward and in footy terms that is playing and winning finals. One of the most underated compliments that can be given to a player is "a great clubman", this carries with it the highest praise and Ben Warren is a truely great clubman.

I'll agree with darley 16 on his comments about Ben being a great clubman but ease up on the GREAT career stuff.
I get sick of people throwing the word GREAT around too easily.
- Good career under difficult circumstances ;) ;)

Well done Dugga for having a real crack at it and staying loyal to the one club despite better offers from a few other clubs. Hope to see him kicking a few goals at the 'Creek' next year although i believe a few country clubs are already having a crack for his services.
Always wondered how far he would have gone with his cricket if he committed to cricket in town instead of footy? Was one of the best fast bowlers in country cricket i've seen in his younger days and very handy with the bat as well. Being great mates with Shaun Tait, Giving it a go must have passed his mind more than once.

Sad to see him go. Will be differen't without the number 19 leading out from FF.

Would hate to think of how many winning sides he's actually played in over the years. Lucky to be 30%.

One of the most friendliest and nicest footballers I have ever had the occasion to socialise with
Seeya with JJ at the Oval this summer !

Can look back at his distinguished SANFL career with pride

I heard Ben doing some commentary at a local game a couple of weeks ago.
Absolute genius behind the microphone.

I'd hate to be Godden - if he doesn't improve on a premiership, 5 grand finals, 8 finals series and 28 players drafted, the Eagles 'faithful' will absolutley slay him

Bunton......when your team gets off the bottom of the premiership table you can then make derogatory remarks about other club's supporters. Have a long merry off-season.
