Round 23 will see West Adelaide play their 2000th match since joining the competition in 1897. This excludes the forfeited matches in 1897 and 1898.

It's a Norwood home game so that's not likely. Kym Russell might be a chance though?

I reckon last week's match shouldn't count.

Well, I suppose you could just make it a retrospective heritage round, back to the early 1900s. You'll need for the participants to don the guernseys and style in a photo shoot this week, however.

2000 matches. I bet the game plan will be to shut it down and keep it under 1500...

And this is coming from a supporter who's club wants to glean support from the league to be the only SANFL club to be allowed to merge with an AFL club for it's so called survival.
So magnanimous! Is anytime the right time for you guys to pull your heads in?

WAFC since 1897
Played 2004 Games as of today (5 No contests - One winning forfeit when SAFC did not front 1901 and 4 Losing Forfeits)
If you took away these 5 non-cotests, this week against south is the 2000th scoring contest
I must have a game or two you are missing Spelly - But I have teams for all these individual games

Mine was a small swipe at the way Westies have ( or been perceived to have ) tried to play games this year. Sorry if you haven't seen enough of them to get the gag.

Perhaps it's an effective style for where they're at, Booney.
Perhaps with some key forwards it might translate into goals in the future.

Agreed. Doesn't make for much of a spectacle though.

I know what it is, it's the abandoned match vs West Torrens at Kensington in 1897. Interestingly, one point was awarded to each side; as would happen now if a game was abandoned before half time.

Mark can correct me if I'm wrong, but I have 871 wins, 1107 losses and 21 draws (including that abandoned match)
