rehearsal for the Elimination Final?

Good win. Hard game for players and umps but I didn't see the umpiring as one sided like last week dugout, honest win.

Sturt absolutely needed to win that if they were any shot for finals....

West is almost certain to beat South and half a shot at Norwood, meaning Sturt will need to win at least one of those two very difficult games. Seems like the one against the Dogs seems more likely, particularly after Anzac Day.

I wont re-hash last week, but this week

Bock retires and Walker doesn't get to play a fifth game for Norwood and qualify for the SANFL finals. We haven't had him on field since Rd 7 but it was an ominous prospect, even though the weather turned to sh!t big time. (Granted, Norwood lost Young as well but Sturt lost Jaensch and Martin. Jaensch and arguably Martin were foreseeable losses, but who would have thought Walker and Young would be recalled?).
The weather thunders down meaning the game was always going to be close.
Reilly goes off on a stretcher and Sheedy cops diarhoea (and plays 'through' it in the end), yet that ledger gets squared up by Davis copping concussion and Bown limping off.
Norwood had more scoring shots than Sturt yet was far too innacurate. Sturt kick 3 points on a night where half an inch of rain fell in an hour before the game?

And all that before we've even heard anything about the umpires

i was talking more about people not giving us much of a chance, not really anything about what you said at all.

Norwood, clear favourites for the flag, obviously just trying to lengthen their odds a little before heading into the business end of the season.

BTW, did anyone find out why Johncock missed a game for work last week, of all weeks?

As for this week, Sturt were also missing Thurstans and Wark. Sounded like it was a Big Mac night tho - McIntyre, McLeay and McGlone all featuring prominently in the "commentary" - (but not quite as often as "Norwood player" and "Sturt player" featured play-by-play ).

what a great committed contest by both teams at the norwood swimming pool tonight, basically sturt made more of their opportunities in front of goal than norwood did, i just wonder how leg weary both teams will be for their matches next sunday

At $10 for a win the Panthers clearly offer amazing value against a team which is on the cusp of some perennial shaky form.

If these weather conditions make playing just as hard tomorrow, and the Oval is a slush-pond recovering from the deluge today, that $10 for South to win suddenly looks even more appetising. Might have to get aboard before the bookies see the scores from tonight's games!

Exactly my point, but at least he would have taken Sturt's no 1 defender as a pillion passenger.

Great game and great resolve by the Double Blues to see it through for a win. Tonight could've been anything, down pours, a Sturt flogging but to come out with a win after a hard muddy win last week and a short break was fantastic.
Reality is that we're still only half a win and % from not playing finals. After a 1st up thrashing by Norwood it's great to get 2 back on them.
Umpiring wasn't too bad, thought it favoured Sturt in the 2nd, Norwood in the 3rd and reasonably even in the last, alot of soft free kicks paid for over the shoulder but pretty consistent.

In all seriousness: South on the points (54.5 or thereabouts) looks to be a good bet, only because of the weather.
