Despite the low score I think Westies did well to hold them back and not let them in at all. Correct me if I am wrong but it also continues Wests unbeaten record under lights at home!

I could rattle on stat after stat for this match, however, the most striking is the total number of scoring shots - 12.

Since 1897, there have only been three matches with less:
Round 2 1898
Port 0.0 1.2 1.2 2.3 (15)
North 1.0 1.0 2.0 2.0 (12)
Alberton

Round 3 1909
Port 0.1 0.2 0.2 1.4 (10)
Norwood 0.2 0.3 0.5 0.5 (5)
Alberton, 4500

Final 1919
North 1.0 1.0 2.2 2.3 (15)
Torrens 1.1 1.3 2.3 2.3 (15)
Adelaide, 10000

And a further four on 12 scoring shots. The only thing even close to this post World War 2 was the 1968 match between these clubs:

Round 7 1968
Port 2.1 4.2 5.5 5.6 (36)
West 2.1 2.2 2.2 2.2 (14)
Alberton, 7009

The third lowest winning score by West ever, and the lowest since 1901.
against Port it was 5.9 vs 5.3, Rd 9 1908 Adelaide
at Richmond it was 7.14 to 7.12, Rd 22 1994
vs Port at Richmond it was 8.13 to 7.17, Rd 18 1969

It was a nice try by Richard Williams again.

Think Port's score was 2.4 though.

Port's second lowest score ever (thanks CK on LIFE)

and I assume therefore Port's lowest ever losing score.

That's if you are talking about 1907 onwards.

another close loss, that makes 8 games by under 3 goals.

Well done to West a deserved win.

My mum and I were 2 of those 7009. We stood behind the goals at the northern end and watched us kick one point in three quarters. Some things don't change. And we got absolutely saturated all day long. Boy could those Port supporters spit.

Port's combined losing margin is 335 in 15 losses. In contrast, North's is 501 in 11 losses.
