can any of these get to over 10,000 ? i think both norwood games can, obviously they wont get that at unley

How many people are you taking with you, Bayman?

Good crowds can be anticipated, but I reckon any home side would be very happy with those numbers.

Maybe it wont be too long before a SANFL game attracts a bigger crowd than a Power home game?

Furthermore - wtf happened to the crowds last weekend? FFS, this was week one of a four week final mini-series, before the finals have even started.

City Mazda 1,661 - the heavily promoted "Fight for the Finals" between Sturt and West! Dont blame the TV broadcast either!
Prospect 1,122 - who knows - worst crowd in recorded history at Prospect - AGAIN for 2010
Woodville 1,681 - Bays v Eagles with a double chance the main goal. Terrible turn out.
Hamra Home 2,179 - Central v Port - and Port has won 4 games this year? well done to these supporters who went to Elizabeth.

Didn't notice the shite weather Squawk?

... although it didn't rain at all at Woodville during the main game.

Maybe the crowds were well down because Norwood wasn't playing?

Of course I did - but this is SANFL. You can get a seat undercover; you can use an umbrella; and you can park within a kilometre.

The Power played Sat night IIRC and the Crows on Sunday arvo, so AFL was out of the equation. Even then, only 15,000 (including Weslo and the Red Coats) made it to AAMI.

I'm just staggered that with most sides still having something to play for (even if that is avoiding the wooden spoon), that the crowds were so poor.

Weather, weather and weather were the three factors behind Saturdays turnout accross the league.

Its not so much the weather during the game that affects attendences its the weather between 9am and 1pm leading into the match as people decide whether to attend or not.

Giving the rain and strong winds around the city during this time none of those figures are surprising.

Also through the years, less and less people will brave such conditions when other warmer entertainment options are available.

Saw my daughters school soccer game cancelled on Saturday due to the wind and strong rain, would not have happened in my day playing 30 years back ... then again I was not complaining.

Spot on Phil ... that was the worst of the weather on Saturday and no doubt scared quite a few off, even though as I mentioned before it didn't rain at all during the main game.

Well considering North drew another poor crowd due to weather, form and the fact South have no supporter base of note, 500 odd more at 2 of the other 3 games is not a hell of alot better considering all 4 of those clubs had seasons well and truly alive.

However I think the SANFL were very generous with the crowd figure at Prospect and made sure it got over 1000.

A few on here would get a gig with the SANFL. Bad weather is always an excuse for bad crowds but good weather is never a factor for good crowds, it's always the closeness of the comp or the great footy on display.

I havent been to the footy since the election was called. I have been down the beach with my binnoculars watching for all the BOATS. I still havent seen any but seemingly they are coming as we need to STOP THE BOATS.

I see your reasoning but if its a great day people dont automatically think lets go to the footy. If its a crap day most people thinking of going will think of giving it a miss.

Someone rang 5aa last night reference the Port crowd and reasons for low numbers. They said, two Eagles supporters were in the petrol station and the attendant basically said "hope you have some weapons, because the Port crowd will bash you". Rowey and arrogant prune then discussed what a fool the attendant was and basically how disgraceful it was to have such an attitude. Again, Cornes revealed what a true hypocrite he is. It wasn't long ago he was telling Glenelg fans not to got to Elizabeth for the top of the table clash between the Bays and Centrals.

Well the bad weather certainly doesn't appeal to the heartstrings of the good wife who didn't bat an eyelid sending me out to do a long list of errands on Saturday morning. Reminded me of the old time classic movie, "I can jump puddles".

Crowd was good at our home game Saturday against Tea Tree Gully both sides had plenty to play for.

Weather not a factor IMO.

Great priced BBQ, best in SAAFL and no over priced booze. Cars parked around the ground and great atmosphere what more could you want.

North being a dud!!!!!!!! also helps!!!!!

CD v Sturt will only get 5,000 or more if it is a night game. more & more people out North do other things on Saturday afternoons, probably the same everywhere, also, people don't travel to Elizabeth Oval. Norwood V Sturt won't get 8,000 + as Sturt aren't going too well.
