Good win to the Bays, Eagles with a massive advantage following their two weeks off to freshen up (had one week to get back into the swing of things) and playing at home. To get the points was very pleasing especially as we were able to come over the top of them with fitness in the last half which should've been the Eagles strength.

Well played the usual suspects - Allen, Bode Mules Cranston Grima and Kirkby.

Special mention to the Eagles fans in front of the FOX stand who kept me amused all day. Comedy writers couldn't produce better scripts to describe their (the Eagle fans) interpretations of the umpiring decisions.

A good, tough contest between two really committed sides that was never going to be pretty given the conditions.

The Bays are just a little bit stronger, quicker and cleaner in close, and just fractionally better all over the ground. They either get a quick handball out or hold it up, whereas too often the Eagles let it spill free without any control over the ball.

The Eagles really let themselves down with the wind in the first quarter by not trying enough to bring the ball back through the members side. Whilst the Bays numerous times kicked it out on the full trying to keep it to the outer side, the Eagles then kept attacking to the dead pocket. The third quarter was better, but then a bit of inexperience saw too often the front of the goals attacked rather than allowing for the wind, which Bode did with a couple of crucial goals into the wind.

Much like the Sturt game, the losing side had more scoring shots, but there was always the feeling the winning side just had enough control of the game.

Great call once again by LifeFM. Miles ahead of the awful biased commentary dished up by 5RPH. Bays stemmed the tide going against the wind, and had the Eagles kicked straighter, the game could well have been in their favour. Great to see the Tigers run over them in the final term. From the commentary, the free kick tally was truly in the Eagles favour too.

Again, we seem to pick sides that are too tall. Seem to have been doing it in attack all year, but this week we also looked too tall in defence, and a couple of the smaller Bays players were able to get some important possessions. Greiger, McKenzie, Guifedra, Henstchel, Thompson - reckon we need one smaller in-and-under player in defence, and not sure whether Stewart has quite grasped his opportunity. Would Daniel be a possibility rather than persisting with him as an on-baller?

Rimmington was injured early on presumably? What happened to him?
3/4 I think it was Willoughby went off with what looked like a reasonably serious knee or ankle.

As Flying High suggested, Glenelg seemed to be cleaner with the ball both in general play and in front of goal - as the old saying goes (and as Glenelg fans would know from last year's final series) "bad kicking is bad football".

With the game opening up in the last quarter as the Eagles needed to score goals and not defend into the breeze, Glenelg got a few late goals that probably made the final margin a little bit larger than the game deserved, but their efforts to restrict the Eagles' scoring in the 1st and 3rd quarters in particular setup their win.

Starting from the 10 second mark of the game some of the umpiring decisions or non-decisions were bemusing, frustrating and inconsistent. I'm not sure if there was one umpire in particular that was way off the mark but I think the inconsistencies between umpires may have led to the frustration.

Well what a weekend for me most of yesterday morning early afternoon on a drip in hospital.And a tough hard game of footy to watch today.
Well done Bays just show how far above the rest the top 3 teams are .

League and 18s win, I think that puts us 300 pts clear of our nearest rival in the Stanley H Lewis trophy, good wins for the club

Rimmington didn't see much of the first term .I saw him with the top of his leg wrapped in ice .

Good comments Flying High and Hopeful Jelly; hard to fault any of that.

I would describe that as a "very good win" if not exactly a good match, being scrappy and choked-down for much of the game. The final term was superb though. Eagles super-impressive to control that quarter completely for the first 7 minutes despite kicking into a gale. Glenelg superb to weather the storm without conceding any score, then to turn it on themselves and run away with it.

Double chance all but locked in. Still possible for Glenelg to miss out but it would mean specific results in each of 8 of the remaining matches. Now the battle for coloured shorts heats up

to the glenelg players who took time out to sign my sons footy in the change rooms after the game - kudos to you all. the club has another supporter for ever! special mention to josh carr

Hard to gauge anything from this game given the poor conditions. Eagles probably had more of the ball and more chances, but weren't as efficient. Glenelg had a clear plan going in to the breeze to keep it to the outer and limit the Eagles chances of scoring. It worked.

Disappointing to more than likely give away a chance at making the top 3, but don't feel Glenelg made too much of a "statement" today. Look forward to see how we go against Central next week.

Dont ever get any "poor conditions" in an Adelaide winter do we!?

As I said for the first time last week I started to see some signs of improvement and we continued that today which was pleasing, and considering the "poor conditions" it was a smashing

The Bays kicking for goal has been superb lately it seems. Hats off to them for improving what was an obvious weakness.

i thought it was a good win & we made the most of our opportunities, the third quarter was the quarter that won it for us, also the 2nd half score (from memory) of 8.1 to 1.9 was a telling difference as was wwt's 1.6 to 3.0 in the third with that strong gale albeit some of those points were rushed, i think the best move of the match was chris kane onto a potential match winner cicallala (spelling not sure sorry), i thought as well as kane , bode, ruwoldt, grima & kirk were among our best


ps, well done to ben mules not only for his 150th but on his 150 game career so far as well

poor conditions and yet footy is a winter sport to be played in those conditions
