Real good win, word filtered to Brighton Rd during the week that Westies rally wanted to have a crack this week to atone for their last game gainst centrals. Knew they would come out having a dip and they did for two qtrs. Very pleasing to see our regulars stand up and produce when it countered Ty, Murph, Kikby, Tenace, Cranny etc. So good to absorb their pressure then get some %age in the last half.

And a word to RPH glad you rabbitted on about the frees we got and westies didn't at half time, shame you didn't talk about the ones that weren't paid to us that resulted in a Westies goal in the first qtr and the obvious marks to us that weren't paid either in the 2nd. The ball can spill out after you take a mark if you have controlled it if you bother to read law 14.1, which Grima had. The 2nd umpire obviously agreed as he didn't over-rule.

I'm not complaining about the umpiring as it went both ways we got some good 'uns we copped a few bad 'uns it all evens out I'm complaining about the bias in the call.

well it was the closest to a full 4 quarter effort i've seen this year (witnessed every game), while west led by 16 points at quarter time it was never ever going to be enough as the wind was worth at least 5 goals, our 2nd term consisted of 7 straight goals to 2.1 (which is what we kicked against the breeze in the first), our 'premiership quarter' was outstanding against the breeze keeping west to just 2 points while we added 2.2 to lead 11.3.69 to west 6.8.44 & then in the last quarter the boys went for the jugular & kicked 9.1 to 1.3 to win running away 20.4.124 defeating west adelaide 7.11.53 to win by 71 points.

apart from the obvious 2 points & a % building win i think the fact that we kicked straight & played 4 full quarters would be the most pleasing thing as far as the team is concerned & as for best players i think the old ''all played well'' is quite accurate today, NOW THEY HAVE PUT 4 FULL QUARTERS IN THEY MUST TAKE THAT INTO EVERY GAME FROM NOW ON & IF WE DO THAT WE CAN & WILL BEAT EVERYONE
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Hooray we have made the finals!

Good effort today although west were pathetic, starting to see some good signs at the right time of year. First time for the year I'm starting to feel like we can contend seriously this year.

Just highlighting the key word in the sentence ;) :D

But yes Bayman the last two weeks have been pleasing in terms of four quarter effort, I am interested in seeing us doing it against Norwood and Centrals in the last two weeks though, and then over the next four weeks

Don't get carried away boys, West we absolutely pathetic after the first quarter.

Yes, a nice win, got 2 more points and the percentage didn't go backwards.

That's it ... time to move on to next week.

Sitting here mulling over the match I'm thinking that Westies weren't that bad. Were it not for a couple of ill-disciplined acts, a couple of bad decisions in front of goal, and being a little more accurate when shooting at goal, then West would have been pretty much equal with Glenelg at 3/4 time. Despite the final margin, West aren't that far off the mark.

Nevertheless it was good to see Glenelg turn in a solid 4 quarter performance. The third quarter in particular was pleasing; holding West goalless with the breeze while establishing a 4 goal buffer is what won the match. Cutting loose in the final term is just icing sugar, though I'm glad that they didn't take the foot off the pedal. Round about now would be a good time to see them begin ramping up for the finals.

PS - the report on that West guy was an absolute joke, and if the umpire doesn't withdraw that after seeing footage then he's got rocks in his head.

great performance from the tiges today, as mentioned - the closest to a 4qtr effort all year, on the umps, i spoke to one of their own post match albeit a ressies one and he was quite embarrased with what he saw out there, not for the first time this season, what is it with the officating? its just getting worse by the week and effed if i know why. Everyone who goes to footy be it afl or local know that the standard of umpiring is diabolical. CAN SOMEONE PLEAST FIX IT!!! it is a blight on our game and ruins it for players and spectators alike
Go The Tiges!!!

Paeudo, I thought we were OK in the first half. There were two goals gifted to the Bays in the 2nd quarter (a blatant push in the back and a dropped mark paid, both at the Snout's end, so I think you'll agree)) and that didn't help, but the Bays were far too good after that.

The strange thing is that the inside 50's were about level for the whole game, but the quality wasa totally different.

West will field better sides than that over the last part of the season, so we'll remain hopeful.

Glenelg were brilliant - lots of talls, skilled and hard at it.

My side was insipid today - every time we have come off a bye, we have been easily beaten

Doesnt really surprise me. Even into the last Q, West had more scoring shots. However, today a number of things stood out:

1. Scoreboard pressure: again we fail to put a decent score on the board. How many times have we scored 10+ goals in a game this season?
2. Game plan: Why do we continue to chip the ball across the field even when we have a 5 goal breeze and marking forwards?
3. Decision making: Terrible. Our FF (Bennett) takes a mark 30m out and decides to handball and miss the target. Pettigrew running towards goals (near goal square) and handballs and misses target.
4. Team selection: When will Collins play a 2nd ruckman. Willits did a fair job considering he is not a recognised ruckman and up against arguably the best ruckman in the game in Cranston. Borholm and Webb are sitting in the 2s, come on!
5. Skill level: Glenelg were clean and direct, as evident by their goal kicking.

Words dont mean s*%t, time for actions bloods.

I wont event mention the umpiring. Those who were there to see a free kick awarded in the final minutes of the reserves when a "shepparding" free was paid would understand!
