Round 19 - Port Magpies v WWT @ Alberton 2.10pm Sat 7th Aug

Postby GWW » Sun Aug 01, 2010 9:03 pm

The Magpies will be full of confidence after their victory against Sturt in round 18, and will now be looking at upsetting the Eagles.

Port are capable of notching up a win at home, however the Eagles have shown the type of consistency this year that the Magpies have been lacking.

WWT to win a close one by 2 goals.

Should the Eagles name Burton in the reserves even if he is not fit to play? Would be a shame to see him hit form at the end of the season, but not qualify for finals. Also if Knights plays for the Eagles this week that would see him qualify for the finals (3 games plus the bye so far). I wonder what the chances are of him playing for us if he qualifies?

Conversely, if these guys aren't going to be playing finals for us, should they just be named in the reserves?

Looking forward to seeing the Eagles again this week. Seems like an eternity since they last played.

Is Knights deemed to have played 3, 4, or 5 games so far?

I'm not sure whether the bye in round 1 counted because I think he was still classified as injured before playing in round 2, and it seems he had a side strain during the split round bye (now reported as "Available" according to the Advertiser injury list today). So he didn't play in any reserves team last weekend because of this, right?

I'm happy to be wrong, but I think we might need to get another 2 games out of him before being eligible for finals.

I would've thought last round counted as a game given he played for us the round before and didn't play for the Crows during either week of the bye (even if he was listed as injured). Therefore a total of 4 so far. I'm not certain though (and neither probably is the SANFL...)

Others that have a chance to qualify for us - Hentschel has played 2, Burton 1, Schultz 4, Salter/Broadbent/Banner all qualified.

Banner omitted, but assume he'll be the travelling emergency.

Glad to see Goldsworthy back in.
