5th Position?

A poll started on another forum by our very own Thiele got me looking at who is going to round out the 5 and was interested in the thoughts of others on here. I would suggest the top 4 will stay the same club wise, maybe the order might slightly differ to what it it is now.
The Double Blues seem to be getting their act together having won 2 games in a row for the first time this season last week while Westies will be desperate to make the finals and continue their improvement under Andy Collins.
Both sides have pretty tough run homes through to the finals and have to face 2 of the top 3 sides each.
Here are the remaining games for both clubs.
WEST:
Central (home), Glenelg (away), Sturt (home), Port (home), South (away), Norwood (away)
STURT:
Port (away), BYE, West (away), Norwood (away), Central (home), Eagles (away)
So what are the thoughts of others as to who will be the side to qualify for finals participation on season 2010 ???

I think Sturt really need to beat West in that game and get into the 5 to have a real shot at it. Tough run home with Norwood, Central and the Eagles they wouldn't want to be relying on West to lose to South to get in. If West win that game, it's curtains for Sturt IMHO. If Sturt win, I'd put it at 50/50. Which is strange because I think Sturt are clearly the better side.

I seriously can't pick it at the moment BP. Sturt, I think have a better list and maybe have now got it together but there's always that turn around in attitude from week to week that has hurt us all year. West are playing as a team (I haven't seen them play this year) and may just have enough wins on the board to have got there.
For Sturt, the break down for me are must wins against Port, West (the most important) and then a win against either Norwood, Central or Eagles. That would leave us on 21pts.
For West, I would have them down with wins against South and Port, which would leave them with 20pts, however if they pick up a win against either of their other matches then I can't see Sturt making it.
On paper I'd say Sturt to make it, it would be unusual for Sturt to drop all games against West in one season and I can't see West being able to beat Norwood, Glenelg or Central.
But I can't pick it....yet.

Call me overly nervous or pessimistic (would be better than I usually get), but Im not ruling my mob out of being involved in this scrap just yet (obviously hoping I am wrong)

I've only just discovered a third position. Sheesh, not sure I'm flexible enough to find 5...

Same here. Could be an interesting last round!
EAGLES:
Bye, Port (away), Glenelg (home), Central (home), North (away), Sturt (home)
NORWOOD:
South (away), North (home), Bye, Sturt (home), Glenelg (away), West (home)

I see West beating Central (very strong West lineup this week), Port and South but losing to Glenelg, Sturt and Norwood.
I see Sturt beating Port and West but losing to Norwood, Central and the Eagles.
This would see West claim fifth spot by a game and a half (even allowing for a Sturt win over them).
However, going by my tipping this season, that should mean Sturt make the finals!

Did you have this Saturdays lotto numbers while you are at it?
Given this season has been so unpredictable, I question how anyone can sit there behind their monitor and suggest results for the next six weeks.
I have a feeling we won't know the make up of the five until after round 23 is completed. And for those that reckon West & Sturt are a shoe in to battle for one remaining spot, don't discount Norwood or WWT being in that dog fight also. West & Sturt can potentially still pinch a double chance.
It aint' over til it's over.

Agree, it's impossible to pick who misses out, but I'm sure there will be some teams that may want to pick who makes it and who don't, hopefully the best team to make a big push through the finals makes the five.

Sturt to finish the season on fire and then continue their whole Jekyll and Hyde act and bomb out in the Elimination Final.

i think the sturt west battle on rd 20 is key, whoever wins that is odds on the get the 5th spot or more.
eagles have a tough run home.

Westies will make the final 5 i think. I think we will beat sturt in Rnd 20 and that will ensure we make it.

It'd be a pshytt boring site if
nobody suggested results for the next 6 weeks. Is there any harm in a bit of prognostication?

The interesting thing about the predictions on here is that there will obviously be no major upsets in the last 6 rounds

Hands up those who had Norwood in the top 3 at the start of the year predictions.
