Round 18 - Glenelg v North @ Glenelg 2.10pm Sat 24th July

Postby GWW » Sun Jul 18, 2010 9:59 pm

Whilst the Bays' form hasn't been as convincing as they would like, they have played better footy this year than the Roosters who have surprised most SANFL followers with their lack of intensity for the majority of the season.

North aren't without a chance of causing an upset, however I think Glenelg will build on their strong last quarter against the Magpies in round 17 and win by about 4 goals.

There is no chance of North winning this week. We simply don't have the cattle on the park and our game plan sucks for those who will be in the 21.

Definately missing this week will be:
D. White
Elstone (may never play again!)
James Craig - worse hamstring injury than Nick Riewoldt!
M. Wundke
Thiele
(Throw in Sporn also who has retired though after horrendous run and no league games this season)

In doubt from the game on Sat would be:
Ryswyk - concussion / shoulder
Allan - corkie
Archard - groin
Stribling - corkie
Stewart - limped off badly at the end with what looked like an ankle injury.

May return:
Gill
Cunningham
Younie
O'Hara -who played twos after suffering his third knee injury this year.

You know you are going bad and undersized when Alleway had to play CHB all game against Sturt and then halfway through the last was actually at FB. The lack of height and size in defence and up front for North will be well explointed by the Bays this week.

I would expect a 10 goal loss or worse.

Hip / back injury which if he plays on will risk permanent "movement" damage as he gets older. On that basis can't blame him for retiring. Players are a lot longer retired than actually playing.

All I hope is the siren will be loud enough for all to hear as last season the lack of auidable sound to indicate the end of the game raised the ire of the cockerals fathiful, especially one Bantam who was keen to continue discussions outside the ground...

Although I'd be hopeful, given our present & the Chooks lack of form, that it won't be close enough that such happenings would effect the overall outcome of the game.

Bays by 30-40 pts...

Bays to win by 15 goals. They got a week of after and will have a day out here i feel. North have too many important players missing by all reports.
