I'm trying to work out what's happening here. So you just get a sausage for $2.50?

The used to be $3.50.

Today I rocked up to the same BBQ stand at 11:15. Not much cooking going on so so I asked if I could have a bacon and egg sanger. Yep sure no worries give us a few minutes and we'll start ooking. I stand and wait for another few minutes and in the meantime the bacon starts cooking. All good I thought shouldn't be long now.

I go off to get a budget get the kids settled downstairs in the rooms come back at 11:30 bacon is cooking (still) lots of activity of picking up boxes and not much else, how about that bacon an egg sanger I ask again? Yep mate I'll be with you shortly. OK says I.

Meanwhile more people are queing.

Bloke in a crows jacket comes down, are you blokes selling beer?? Yep 2 min later a beer appears for him. Meanwhile bloke who was lifting boxes starts cooking snags. 11:35 is the time - 20 mins after I first ordered , "Umm OK, say mate how about some eggs for the bacon and egg sanger and would you like some money (I'd been jingling the coins in front off them for 5 mins - obviously Port aren't too short of cash" Finally Eggs go on.

11:40 eggs cooked sitting on edge of BBQ, so mate how's that sanger going I ordered 20 odd minutes ago." "Settle", says the lifter "we only started cooking 5 mins ago".

11:45 30 ins after ordering I finally get my bacon and egg sanger...

So yep prices have fallen but it is a wait for the bacon and egg sanger and it is hard to give your money away, so much for a club in financial straits....

That's pretty efficient compared to Prospect. I put in an order for a steak sandwich there 7 years ago and with any luck i might get it before the end of this season. That said they are still probably trying to work out what the correct change is after i gave them a $10 note and the thing cost $5.50. Seriously i know they are volunteers but the BBQ service at Prospect is beyond embarrassing. The club should either ensure it's run at a somewhat acceptable level or just get rid of it. You have to love the fact that they wear gloves for hygeine yet handle the money with the gloves

Let me say I don't expect lightening or outstanding service at footy BBQs from volunteers. Just thought with the cue starting to grow they might have thought sh!t here's an opportunity to start collecting some money from the punters...

30 mins from placing my order to getting the finished products was just a little outside my tolerance level of service.

That's fantastic news.
Will be great to shut up all the boo boys who have delighted in taking pot shots about the league assistance.

"Sorry, can't see why 6500 people signing something online, "shows there's a need for it", Tim Ginever. If 6,500 signed a petition against the merger would it necessarily mean there isn't a need for it? Just get these supposed supporters to contribute $100, $650,000 raised, problem solved. Move on. Time to play and compete on each teams merits, not to the detriment of, or disadvantaging other clubs. 6,500 not even Port Magpies membership and a long way from the Power's membership, (so 20,000+ don't want it?). If you thought only 1,000 to 2,000 would sign it -why would you bother. Top bloke Timmy, but wasting time and effort."

I guess what's "laughable" is clasping at straws that 6,500 online signatories actually has any real meaning or weight on such an important landscape changing decision.
I wouldn't need to see 6,500 signatures to make the assumption that probably most Port supporters would be in favour of a merger.
It's not just about what's good for Port/s, its what's best for the league and the other clubs.
If Barrie Robran started a poll to push for North to merge with the Crows and got 6,500 signatures, does that mean there's a need for it?
A I said, utmost respect for Tim Ginever, but to infer the reaction is staggering is also laughable. It could be equally argued the response has done more harm than good.

Oh! My mistake. I thought it was laughable finding 6,500 Port supporters who could sign their own name :?
