Wow...that must be a record...you took it off topic straight away. Could you stick to discussing the game that's just been played please.

You'll be able to discuss next weeks game in the Rd 17 threads when they're opened.

Norwood far too good for the last 3 quarters. The Eagles made the most of the breeze in the first quarter and it looked like it may be our day. 4 and a half goals up at quarter time, Norwood proceeded to do exactly the same to us in the 2nd and evened it up at half time. The 3rd quarter proved to be the decisive quarter of the game with Norwood extending their lead into the wind. The Eagles looked lost and often had no player inside 50 on occasions. Norwood would have been happy with that, given they would just need to break even to have the edge going in to the last. Eagles tried hard in the last, but weren't up to Norwood's standard. Norwood had more numbers at the ball, were able to find targets going forward and generally out played the Eagles as a team. A season defining match.

The Redlegs were again far too slick and quick for the Eagles. If the Eagles could hit a target it would be a miracle.
Love the constant handball in the back lines to put ourselves under pressure. Jarrad the main offender every time. Get him out of the back lines please Godden!!!!!!!!!!
Great Effort I dont think from our Crows inclusions.
And of course the umpires up to their usual consistent crap.
Norwood showed they are no pretenders but we certainly are on that performance.

Nathan Bassett needs to tear strips off his players
These poor starts by underestimating the opposition is simply not on ...

Now to more serious aspects if todays game
The Woodville West Torrens rehabilitation Centre once again was in action
Today they were doing the rehab for Brett Burton, Chris Knights and an extended one on Petrenko
Burton did he play after 1/2 time ?
Petrenko looks to have a serious foot injury
Knights needed the run
And also did thier very own Mark Mckenzie play with a broken Hand today

Also they have played Nick Salter and Jay Schulz into form for Dean Laidleys mob

Having seen what I sdaw today, and at times in the past, would WWT be better off playing Birdman and Knights in the B grade ? [if the stooopid AFL rule of having to play em A grade is applicaBull ]

Playing Bs were fitter players ?
If these guys played Bs then should they have played As ?

With hindsight, yes. Knights, Burton and Petrenko were all big let downs today.

You don't know with Burton, last year in his first league game he was BOG against Port, then the next week was useless against Sturt before going to the Crows.

A few weeks ago Hentschel came straight back in to the league and despite injuring his hammy with 10 mins to go, he was fantastic.

It's all a roll of the dice. In the end, Norwood were just too good. Simple as that.

Yep hindsight is a wonderful discussion
Perhaps this then
Play 1 at a time ?
having 2+ playing from long breaks is risky ?

MALGICAL MOMENT
The players lined up and the NW players were at the wrong end !!!
They had to rush to the opposite end
Then the moment
The game had started
The EGs forayed deep into attack to a big pack
Model citizen Adam Grocke was at the rear of the pack
He was held by a NW defender
He shrugged the hold, and Apollo Grocke launched
He spiraled in and above the pack and took a sensational mark
Leap like a startled gazelle [circa Ian Aitken 1970s]
He kicked truly for the first goal of the game

Norwood also had Will Young coming straight back in after 6-7 weeks off and a knee op - no detour through the ressies for him either.

Petrenko was carried off by a Norwood and Eagles trainer at the end of the game with his right foot bathed in an ice pack and he wasn't putting any weight on it.

Knights took a hit somewhere in the game and had slight concussion. Birdman just went missing in the second half - I presume he was on the bench all that time?

Actually the Eagles possibly kicked themself out of the game early on. For once their incredible accuracy deserted them because they had 4-4 to 0-1 at quarter time. It really wasn't until the second half of the first quarter that Norwood "appeared at the ground". They managed to take the lead before the Eagles kicked a goal into the wind after the half time siren.

In the second half the wind seemed to be a westerly - it was nigh impossible to score from the NE pocket. I counted 5 Norwood set shots from there which resulted in 3 OTF, 1 no score and 1 behind.

I though Jarrad and Lewis were easily the most dominant Eagles players on the day. In the end, it was probably Norwood's 3rd quarter and the Eagles inability to score in the first half of the second quarter (when they had most of the possession) that decided the game.

The crowd was healthy without being bumper - around 3,000-3,500 I"d say.

Interesting that the Eagles reserves or u/18s were quite content to stand behind the Norwood cheer squad at the southern end - but then, our cheer squad is generally a bunch of flags looking for people to hold them up! ;)
