i thought south were brave & never gave in during most of the second half but i always thought even while south led in the first half that the floodgates would open & while south were within 10 points late in the last term west seemed to be in control & finally broke souths heart & ran away with a much needed win for them considering the 2 results from earlier in the day, mckernan killed hartlett early then the move of fisher quelled his influence on the game & the 2nd half scoreline of 12.3 to 4.4 gives an indication of the west dominance after halftime & i thought they had their fair share of the ball in the first half as well

Sitting here listening to the match South got off to a good start yet West Slowly pinned them back and took off in the Second half. South had their chances but didn't capitalise on them and it sounded to me that there was alot of ball chasing by both teams in the match. I am glad the Bloods won and I am hoping for another win next round.

Bitterly disappointed with the result. Got within 10 pts entering time on and kept pushing and pushing but so many wasted chances. What could have been. Westies' pressure was superb, though. The final foray forward we had before it all went pear-shaped saw the west defence tackle/smother 3-4 south players in a row inside 50 before it went the length of the field and the first of four goals were banged on in about six minutes.

After a pathetic first half the Bloods booted 12 goals to 4 in the second half to run away with the contest. Considering the weather, conditions were pretty good. The ball may have been a little slippery but the oval was in excellent condition. The crowd was poor.

Westies bought in Fielke, started Chubb on the bench had Champion at CHF and Willets as their lone ruckman.

We were comprehensively outplayed by a hard tackling and quick South team in the first Q. Hartlett was outmarked 4 times by Mc Kernan who booted 3. Cockshell limped off the ground in the first 5 minutes with what looked to be a serious leg injury but recovered and later returned. We wasted our forward chances despite Bennett creating several opportunities heading into the wind.

With the wind in the 2nd we were simply dreadful. Our FF didn’t touch the ball in this Q as the delivery to him was rushed and under pressure from the South defenders. An 18yo kid called Andrew Carter demolished our CHF Wade Champion. At one point F Caruso dropped a simple chest mark but somehow got the ball to Harding on his own 10m out from goal. Harding proceeded to fall over, get back on his feet and kick a point with no opponent within cooee of him. And this guy is on an AFL list! We had 2 easy set shots that went thru for behinds as someone remarked that this was worse than last week. Westies can be painful to watch at times.

The 3rdQ was played in 3 lots of ten minute bursts. We kicked 3 gls in the first 7 minutes of the into the wind. South hit back for the next ten minutes and we finished off the Q on top. Bennett got 2, Caruso did an Eddie Hocking to run around his opponent and get another, passed one off to Champion who spent a lot of this Q in ruck with Hartlett forward and Chubb back.

South got to within 10 pts at the half way mark of the last but we had control of the game and finished off in style with another 6 goal Q. Hartlett booted a wonderful 60m goal from in the centre square and the 3 AFL listed players , Schmidt, Davenport and Harding, who had had very ordinary games to this point, all goaled.

Bennett, Beech, Caruso and Davenport got 2 apiece. Best players were hard to find as few put in for the whole 100 minutes. Bricknell, Piasente, Willets and Fisher probably stood out. F Caruso and Bennett do have some creative instincts up forward and attempt to generate opportunities. Ryan Anderson, Rowe, Caire and Silvester were solid. Schmidt continues to let himself down with poor disposal despite racking up stats and, here’s a controversial statement, Magarey Medallist James Ezard needs a run in the 2s to regain some confidence and touch. He has hardly had a clear and clean possession for many weeks.

It was pleasing to witness the way we ran out this game after last week’s fade-out. With Sturt and North both winning today this win was critical in the context of the season.

Speaking of big goals, how huge was Adam Hartlet's BOMB from just inside the centre square, had to travel 70m I reckon...

Was in the Bloods rooms after the game and some of the officials were saying he does that every night at training

Thought we were going get beaten at half time but well done to the boys. Good effort and for the 4th time this year all three grades won.

Harts thought he was about 75m when kicked it.

Very disappointing result.
The first half saw South play like every long suffering patient supporter of this proud old club would like to see them play. Hunger, desperation,and a fierce attack on the footy and the opposition. That's all we want.
The second half was ordinary. Second to the contest; many of our first half stars fell out of the game and we didnt work hard enough.West obviously lifted their work rate after the break and gradually reeled us in.
I have to say that in the second half the supporters witnessed half baked, incompetent and inconsistent umpiring. Obviously "the umpires" had no concept of consistency with their interpretations. If they were players, on that effort alone, they would be banished to the reserves indefinitely. But no, they will resume next week, unaccountable for their actions as if nothing had happened. We are playing in a semi-professional league ,the least we should expect is a professional approach by umpires, not the garbage we witnessed last night.

That said, well done to West, they deserved the points.

here’s a controversial statement, Magarey Medallist James Ezard needs a run in the 2s to regain some confidence and touch. He has hardly had a clear and clean possession for many weeks.

Big call. I think he is still learning to deal with a hard tag on him.

What we are missing in the midfield is some class/polish players. We have plenty of in and under, hard at it players (Ezard, Rowe, N Caruso etc). Hence I would play Birss (I didnt see him in the ressies yesterday???) and hopefully H Hartlett may have another run with us.
