Any win over either Metro or Country is a good win. with the 18s this year being more competetive than any other SA u18 side for a long time and the 16s looking the goods seems we're doing something right anyway.

agreed. but swings and roundabouts in this area. but this will be the demise of the SANFL eventually. we are already seeing the quality of SANFL deminishing, now there is another 84 (cough) AFL players per season. we will be the preverbial feeding drip to ther national game. and see much more crap which we are seeing already in our local comp.(gowans, allan, fergusan, chambers ,cica and the like will be deminished from the comp we love im afraid.

What year will Jack Viney be eligible for the draft? Presumably West Sydney may still have some concessions whatever year it is. May be enough for him to join Melbourne through father/son.

i would think melbourne would get first dibs at him under the father/son rule. you have to be 18 to enter the draft i think.

Very similar to Bryce Gibbs in that he is ready for higher level footy so young.

Spelly - eagerly awaiting your ongoing criticism of the state of junior football in SA - but nothing! What is oging on?

Nothing to criticise or awaiting the next minor set back to use as your argument that we should go back to the dark ages of U17 & U19s?

Nothing has been won yet. Anyway, you know as well as I do that the AFL system is here to stay and we await the next AFL driven change.

If he does go to Melb, I wonder if that will influence his Dad as far as coaching, stay in SA or get a job in Victoria.

His dad could always come back to the Hawks as an Assistant.
I wonder if there are any previous scenarios in the AFL where a father is coaching against a son??

F*** the AFL, there is a famous one here in the SANFL Jack (Sturt) and Robert (Norwood) Oatey

But in the lesser league. Jack (Nth Melb) and John (Haw) Kennedy in the 80s
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
