Another " Get Out Of Jail Free " card !
3 goals up with the wind ( apparently ) and almost coughed it up ! Very happy with the win. The Bays really know how to grind out a win, but THAT was too close for comfort.
Well done Bays ! Onward and Upward

Seems the timekeeper has a habit of this. Remember last year McConnell.

Doesn't seem to work against Centrals...Just make sure you're more than 4 goals up halfway thru the last qtr against us!

Sounds like it was a real entertaining game, good days the Sundays at the Bay.

Much like last week. 5 to 6 thousand I reckon.
Huge comeback from the baggers in the last quarter. 24 points up to the Bays when the 3rd quarter siren went, followed by a kick after the siren for a goal. Bloody timekeepers

. Big surge towards goal in the last minute of the game from Sturt, could have sworn there was going to be one last dirty little point to deny us in the end. Nice to see The Dweller (Sellar) take a grab and get a score at the last after a bit of a dirty day.
Beard is growing is stature with his beard...
Waiting for the video review hoping a nice little incident is missed like it was by the umpies...

Looked about 5500-6000

. A good crowd. I think the free tickets probably helped a little

ST only lost one quarter and lost the game
At qtr time only players who played for GL kicked all the goals
In a tight game, Giles and Kirkby were very good up forward
Great game, pity that one side had to lose
ST again played well against a top 3 club
And those cluibs will be happy if ST dont make the finals

I thought the crowd was a tad disappointing in size and voice (until the last term anyway). A far cry from the 13k or so there last year, on a Crows-free weekend too.
Entertaining game though and in terms of pressure and consistency one of the more satisfying games from a Sturt point of view in recent times. The difference for mine was Glenelg's ability to hold important marks which we were often unable to do. Oh, and Ty Allen who was very very good.
(I missed it but apparently the Bays also won the ressies from the last kick on the siren - timekeeper indeed!)

Crowd was 5 500 according to an SANFL official I asked after the game.

OK, there you go. Seemed pretty spacious on the hill compared to previous experiences at the bay. Maybe the Snouts have been in training

Real good game of footy today. Sturt hung in all day and nearly stole an unlikely win in the end.
How the f*** thay aren't in the 5 is beyond me.
Nice to get the points but coughed up a 5 goal lead in the 3rd ... again well done to Sturt for a never say die attitude.
Should be a beauty next week.

Was that '08? How time flies... Oh well, Bays too good today. With the Dogs, Bays and (ahem) Norwood currently looking the goods for the Top 3, the race for the final 2 spots in going to be fascinating.

I'm not happy about the game myself. Sturt never looked like winning until the last 10 minutes, so I don't really take much comfort from the fact that they hung in there all day and only just lost. In the end our premiership points go up by ZERO. It's another loss, keeps us two games out of the five and continues what has been a bloody awful season for the Blues. We once again went into the forward line with all the composure of myself after 10 pints, it was the usual bombing in to whoever we've done all year, which has been proved time and time again this year to be a complete waste of time, whereas Glenelg kicked with precision, marked well and goaled.
I'll give the team points for showing great courage, really busting a gut, much like the Norwood game last week, but in the end we relied on individual brilliance and luck to get us forward, while Glenelg had precision and team work.
So for me, it was just another game where 22 guys who don't know each other tried to win a game, but once again came off second best against a team that in many ways, didn't impress me much either.
Glenelg were OK... deserved to win, but that's about it.
Sturt, still about 8 goals worse off than last year.

What is also amazing is that both reserves and league were won by Glenelg with a goal on the siren.

I'm pretty sure it was Glenelg's Darcy Armfield, who has played mostly in the u/18's for the Tigers this year, who kicked the winning goal on the siren in the reserves...
A great game of footy to call in the league game, Ty Allen was sensational and has the best beard I have seen in a long time at SANFL level

Yes-I thought RPH were almost indecently obsessed with Allen's beard during today's broadcast.

He was incessantly referred to as "the bearded Allen"- as if there was some other Allen out there
