Good stuff, not too convincing in the last by the sounds of it, but any win at Alberton is a good win.

Norwood win the Williams-Gallagher Cup and $20k :D

MALGICAL MOMENTS

DUIGAN
Nick Duigan sprinting hard and kicking a goal on the run

CLOKE
Cameron Clokes marks in the wet

YOUNG
PA 4-5
NW 8-9
Jarrod Young had a set shot for goal almost in the same spot as he did in a PA v WA last year[or the year b4]
In that PA/WA game he had a shot after the siren and kicked a point when a goal was needed to win
Today he kicked the goal from a very good kick
That was the start of a run of 2-4 to 0-0

WEATHERALD
For another gutsy game, what we have learnt to expect from Tim over 2 millenuims and 300 games
Well done

Thought there must have been a record amount of frees given today, just ridiculous. Umps have lost the plot.

Highlight was Duigan's running goal, that was the best passage of footy all day.

Great to be back on the winners list, really makes certain of our position in the 5.

i thought overall the umpiring was fine

agreed

c'mon NFC you should have 3 on the end of your third statement ;)

how cloke can't get some games for the franchised port is beyond me

today from port we got what we always get a contest with a never give it away attitude & having a crack, from norwood we got a team who looked a lot more dangerous going forward (port couldn't get it past half forward), scoreboard did flatter port somewhat

I agree with comments about Cloke. I've never been his biggest fan but he came to play today. Tough, dedicated, and took some great marks in difficult conditions. A tough hard afair and I'm glad I wasn't out there, some real bone rattling bumps.

Full marks to the SANFL. At one time Fuller picked up the ball, Thurgood was coming the other way, Thurgood correctly protected himself in the clash, and bumped Fuller high. Totally approriate and nothing in it, but if it was the AFL Thurgood would be facing a charge

B.O.G. effort from my little mate Weathers today, Zorzi was great as well. I was impressed by Port today, they gave it a red hot go and if they stick with it, will win their share of games, and possibly have an effect on the final make up of the top 5.

Umpires were pretty good, but at one stage Cloke just ruffled the hair of Duigan on the ground, and one silly umpire decided that it was enough to award a free kick to Duigan!! What are these guys thinking??

Always good to get the points at Alberton.

How was the ABC Radio call of the game between Port and Norwood JAS?

It was ok...the pre game interviews were good...really liked being able to listen to Bass giving a team talk in the rooms. Obviously it's great to have any additional coverage especially for the georaphically challenged amongst us but as for the game commentary itself I thought it was fairly bland and emotionless...at least you could tell a goal had been scored from the background noise...give me DB and DS's passion for the game any day even if having pay the 'sponsorship' pipers does get annoying at times :D Just my personal opinion...others might think differently of course.

Watching on the telly thought the umpires did a pretty reasonable job for three quarters in trying conditions, but were pretty ordinary in the third.
Norwood were too good all day, disposing of a lesser opponent as they should if they want to be a top side. Port battled on pretty gamely, but were beaten by a better side in virtually all positions.

2719 at the game according to Adelaide Now.

I know weather was poor BUT thats only 60 more than watched Central play North under same conditions.

Port Home Crowds have actually decreased on last year and average per home game now sits 6th in the SANFL, ahead of only North, Eagles & South. This in a year the Magpies were out to prove they are the most popular club in the competition.

Interesting. I said pre-game there looked to be about 2,600 there, but that was at about 1.40. There seemed a big influx from that point that noticeably lifted the numbers, so to only increase by 100 or so is interesting.

That would have been, at least partially, due to a very large Norwood group standing in front of the radio broadcast area. There was still a very healthy Port contingent - most of whom, I should add, were very appreciative of Tim Weatherald's game also and gave healthy applause when he came to the bench and at the end of the game.

Well, Port aren't winning games, plus they have a team in the AFL. What's Central's excuse?
