Round 14 -Central Dist v Glenelg @ Eliz 2.10pm Sat 26 June

Postby GWW » Thu Jun 17, 2010 10:26 pm

Match of the round, and hopefully one of the games of the season. The Bays will want a psychological advantage as these 2 clubs are likely to meet in the finals, however I think the Bulldogs at home will win by about 5 goals.

Bays have had two tough games. Is there something left?

I'll go for Centrals narrowly, but South a big chance against the Bays the following week.

We have an eight day break after Centrals, which will be handy in terms of recovery.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

central played in the wet/mud, i think playing a day later could help rather than hinder given those conditions, however we will have to improve to get close, i hope i'm wrong but i think there will be a shallacking & central will win by about 8-10 goals

a little birdie tells me 5AN or 891am as it is now known will have a little rodent in the commentary box next saturday at elizabeth

Looking forward to it, although I fear for the result coming off B2B 6 day breaks.

Looking forward to it, although I fear the result from ANY trip north of Grand Junction Road for a footy match.

Unfortunately this will be the first (and probably only) Centrals match I'll miss this season due to work (it's a 10-11 hour shift, and you can't say no to that money). Thankfully the ABC are covering it so I can watch it Saturday night, with the possibility of treating it as live.

The game itself should be a beauty. Glenelg got out of jail against Sturt while Centrals dominated North before the rain set. While Glenelg have a 1 less day break, they played in far better conditions than Centrals. However, Glenelg have a poor record against Centrals (3 wins in the past 10 years, the last being in 2008 - interestingly at Elizabeth) and a poor record at Elizabeth. Centrals lately have been doing what they need to do to win (bar one slip at Norwood), and of course their home record is sensational.

The result will have a huge impact on the top part of the ladder. A Centrals win will see them clear on top with a 2 games ahead of Glenelg. A Glenelg win will see them equal with Centrals on top.

At home, I reckon it'll be Centrals by 15 points.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the dogs playing in the mud. It was a pretty easy game so our legs weren't pushed any harder than normal and I can't imagine there were all that many sore spots after the game.

Dogs just seem to have the rest of the comp at arm's length right now so I'll expect a 4-5 goal win. This'll be a good test leading into our last bye for the year unless we earn another one during finals. Not sure what the story with Havelberg is, but I doubt they'd take any risk with him for this game. I can't see any changes unless forced this week.

Dogs get a bit lucky this week with the Power not playing, you would think Westoff would have been promoted with his performance and Ports poor performance last week. If he shows the same enthusiasm and energy this week he will be a handful for the Bays forward line.

Really hoping we have Sutherland playing again will mean Hardy can play as a defender and we can have our preferred options of Lawry and Hardy on Grima and Kirkby.

Wouldn't be surprised if we got Henderson back this week. Would be interesting come selection to see how Lairdy fits Westoff, Schell, Henderson and Gunston all into the one side.

Exactly. That three point loss to Norwood made me want to hand the trophy to Centrals in June.

Yep.

You may notice I'm not the one banging on about how dominant their team is.

This match deserves 6,000+ but I reckon Bay fans are too yellow to travel en masse up to Elizabeth...
