I guess your only as good as your last game, hey Norwood

The curse of the Dogs strikes again.

Spelly, could you please post a win/loss ratio of teams the week after playing Central and especially the week after beating Central?

Gee Norwood for a team who is apparently a Grand Final certainty. 6 wins 5 losses is an extremely poor record.

Gee, just as it looks like there might be a challenge for top spot Norwood drop one. Gee from 2-7 the comp is just so even. And it looks like Port mightn't be the worst 8th placed team we've had of late. All good for the comp really.

From memory I think over 2009-10 the Dogs have had four losses and on each occasion the team that has beaten them has lost the following week (Sturt twice, Eagles, and now Norwood).

fair enough and i the record is still poor even when teams have lost to Centrals.

2 teams have won the week after playing Central while 7 times teams have gone down the week after playing Centrals.

Scorboard completely flatters Norwood, we were well off the pace today, Sturt just too hungry, had numbers in defence and won all the stoppages until the last quarter.

Now, the umpiring. Absolutely WOEFUL.

First 3 quarters- Sturt got everything (Sturt 10 goals vs 4)
Last quarter- Norwood got everything (Nwd 6 goals v 1)

Not for one minute am I saying umps were the reason we lost, not at all. Sturt far too good. However the umps were a disgrace, the umpiring standard gets worse every single week. HOW MANY FREAKING 25 METRE PENALTIES DO THEY PAY? Ruins the game.

Jaensch BOG by a fair way IMO, 2 goals, stack of the ball, didn't waste a possession. Hinge, Gum, McGlone not far behind.

For Norwood Lower our best comfortably, Puopolo and Davis also good. In fact our defence did a good job all day.

UK Fan's first loss as Norwood's motivation coach.

Disgraceful. Norwood under UK Fan haven't a clue.

Agreed.

For once, I actually thought Sturt were getting a good run from the umpires. There have been many times this year where I feel we've been harshly done by with stupid wuss frees being given to the opposition, but today was a pleasant change, whereby it was Norwood who were being given a hard time and in some instances, totally crucified.

Classic example was when there was an infringement about 40m out from goal, free kick to Norwood, but the ball had spilled out and was in the hands of a Norwood player running into an open goal, but since the umpire blew the whistle, he paused, umpire said play-on, but that pause allowed him to be tackled, holding the ball called and Sturt had the free.

Geez, talk about shafting Norwood.

That said, last quarter was a complete reversal. Norwood must have received about 5-6 frees in a row from stoppages, just couldn't believe how that was even remotely possible from a law of averages perspective. Had the game gone another 5 minutes, I think Norwood would have overrun Sturt and won the game.

From my perspective it was a difficult game from which to enjoy the win. Sturt was certainly on song from the start, unlike just about every game this year against mid-table to bottom of the table teams. We tackled hard, zoned up, pressured Norwood and as a result, we put through 3 goals (should have been 4-5) while Norwood managed just 1. Norwood just couldn't buy a goal, too much pressure, just no space for them, it was a good quarter.

Second term was a real arm wrestle, with both sides being equally strong defensively and making it equally difficult for their opponents to get into the clear up forward and score goals. Sturt edged Norwood out with a late goal to extend their lead to 19 points. The third term saw Sturt put Norwood to the sword and bang on 5 goals to 1 and take what ended up being a match winning lead. They just smashed Norwood off the ball, Jaensch kicked a couple of golden goals, just too good.

Last term, Norwood got a goal within 30 seconds and went on to kick a couple more and have the momentum. Things were working now, Sturt looked like they were defending the lead. When Sturt got one back to maintain a 4+ goal lead, the game seemed to die as Norwood gave up (maybe) and Sturt held firm, but when Norwood finally worked a goal late on, they woke up again, banged on a couple more and looked like stealing the game.

As it was, time ran out.

Sturt victors, tough win, good win, but we should have held on more strongly.

Norwood, a loss, maybe wakes them up a bit, they're obviously better than they have been for years.

Are Sturt back? Not yet. They need to beat Glenelg next week and win the week after before we can say that maybe Sturt have got their act together. Sturt are backing up good wins with poor efforts the following week, so there's work to do.

why does it take a 'backs to the wall' attitude to get the best out of sturt ?, they were ready to play from the opening bounce & after a tight tussle broke free & had basically buried the game by 'lemon time' however with both teams changing tactics the pendulum swung norwoods way & if the game went another 4 or 5 minutes they may have pinched it, i can understand norwoods approach in the last term with the play on at all cost & kick long as that would be what every team would do in that situation, but i don't understand why sturt went defensive & tried to slow the game down for the entire quarter, i thought that my old mate johnny hinge, giles & herring were sturts best & for norwood i thought dawe, davis & the 'road runner' puopolo were their best

looking to the future which team would be happier in the end ?.................i suspect norwood given their barnstorming finish !!!!

was good to see a bit of 'biffo' today
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway
