Noticed this on the Adelaide Now site. Here's hoping this is true and he signs.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl ... 5867441485

- West Adelaide is in the midst of negotiating a contract extension for coach Andrew Collins. Collins current three-year deal runs out at the end of this season but the Bloods are hopeful of adding a further two years to the deal shortly, which would see Collins tied to the club to the end of the 2012 season. The process had been delayed slightly because of the club's focus on getting its new lights erected and dealing with the fire to its changerooms in the offseason.

Unless he is offered an assistants position in the AFL I can't see him leaving. He has done all the hard work turning us from lucky to be competitive to pushing for a finals spot. Don't know why you would do the hard yards then leave when there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Well either the report is wrong or you're wrong CoverKIng (and I'm not saying one is more likely than the other), because he wouldn't be in the midst of contract negotiations if he was leaving at the end of the year.

Agreed. He'd be a massive loss. I hope you're wrong, but it gives me no comfort to put my faith in a newspaper report.

Coaches can leave contract or no contract. Just ask a glenelg supporter.

If my comprehension skills haven't entirely eluded me this is Glenelg supporter bringing up another teams sacked coach as a point in an argument.

We can all fill the dots in on the irony of that.

I had heard earlier in the year that this would be his last year and he would be going back to Melbourne where his wife and kids still are. It was more a family decision than a footy one, so our form reversal would not impact on that. Any suggestions for successors if needed - there are plenty of well respected coaches around with some Westies history that could be in the running!

I've heard that the family being over in Melbourne has, at times, caused some strain and IF he left the Bloods at the end of the year, would be one of the reasons, as mentioned above.

Successors to Andy would be interesting, Big Benny Watkins is coaching the ressies at the moment and may be a candidate, while Andrew Rogers has been an assistant coach for a while now, may be ready to take the next step and lead a club.

To be honest though, as a non-West Adelaide supporter, but a big Andy Collins fan, I hope he stays in Adelaide because not only has what he done for the club been sensational, he is such a nice guy to talk to and very likeable. The bloods would be bitterly dissapointed if this eventuaed no doubt, but I'd suggest West fans wont want to think about it until / if it actually eventuates.

Have any of them been in and out* as quickly as Lewis was?

What about any of:

Luke Norman (Sturt) - Might have had enough there and be ready to come back
Micky Godden (Eagles) - Too soon after only 1 year at Eagles
Mark Mickan (Bays) - Similar to Norman, could be ready to return if bays window is over
Paul Jarvis (Sturt Reserves) - ?
Ben Hollands (South Assistant) - ?
Jack Horan (Bays Reserves) - Nowhere near ready

All former bloods that with the exception of Godden might be ready to come back

Plus those former Westies players within the club such as Sporn, Mellor, Watkins as well as Rogers who has been Collo's understudy (A bit like Norman was at Sturt).

Nice to see Westies supplying other clubs with quality coaches but would prefer one of them to come home and get our club right on the field!!

It's looking good.

From Adelaide Now's Monday Morning Centreman:

- The wait for Andrew Collins to extend his contract at West Adelaide is almost over. Bloods CEO Kym Russell said the process was a ``week or so away'' from being completed. ``We're both very comfortable with where it's at,'' Russell said. ``We were always aiming for the end of July so we're still within that timeframe.''
