Williams quits South

Postby Choaty » Wed May 12, 2010 3:27 pm

From SAFC.com:

South Adelaide Football Club advises that Dylan Williams informed the Club today that he no longer wants to play for the Panthers.

Williams was told on Monday that due to his poor form he would be omitted from the League team this weekend. He has since decided to quit the Club

Sounds like the Panthers will be better off without him if that's his attitude. I doubt any of the other SANFL clubs will touch him as a result of his reaction either.

Without knowing the full story this is very disappointing. Swallow your pride, get BOG in the ressies and force Ronnie to pick you.

Williams had a stellar year in 2009 to finish runner up in the B+F. Certainly has been down on form in 2010, but not having seen Saturday’s match I cant really comment if his dropping was warranted.

Fuller has put a few blokes on notice:

Well there's no doubt it would be a very tough team for a player of any quality to fight his way back into...

It's disappointing for sure, but how many posts on this site and comments elsewhere over a number of years about the SAFC culture have been written about and spoken of. Part of Fuller's mission is to change this "culture" thing and maybe this attitude is an example of what needs changing. I'll miss Dylan as a player but if the long term consequence is a better club then so be it.

Agreed Darley16 (strangely was speaking to the ORIGINAL Peter Darley only 2 hours ago  ). Dylan had another flat game on Saturday. A couple of punters infront of me were saying he was due for a game in the 2's. Apparently Dylan don't do dat!

I assume you meant that tounge in cheek wycbloods, but ANY team in their right mind would not even take calls from Dylan if that is his attitude.

Poor form Dyaln (obviously also literally over the past 2 weeks), poor form...

SAFC better of without people like this as others have mentioned.

I'll say again. There's 2 sides to every story.

Dont crucify the bloke based on what SAFC have released.

I've said the same thing (2 sides to a story) elsewhere on this topic, but it seems pretty cut and dry to me:

Certainly not officially quoting anyone here, but you would assume the conversation would have went something like:

Ron Fuller at training Monday night: "Dylan, we feel you have been struggling a bit in the last couple of weeks, I think it will be best for you to go back to the 2's this week and find some form and confidence and we'll go from there".

Dylan Williams after the conversation: "I'm not playing 2's, I quit"

That is pretty much how you would say it went so like I say, I agree there are 2 sides to the story but you'd have to agree if this is what has unfolded, poor form on Dylan's part.

I do hear some 'stories' of his attitude from former team mates, so if it is black an white, I'm not suprised.
The big question is if he does go to another club, will he'll suffer "Voodoo Ron's" curse as Boyd, Parry and KHunt did before him?!

will this mean he'll end up back at Morphett Vale if no other clubs take him which sounds likely.
