Round 7 - Norwood v Glenelg @ Norwood Fri 7th May

Postby GWW » Sun May 02, 2010 10:14 pm

Glenelg has had a pretty good record at Norwood Oval in recent years, but with Norwood's recent good form, it could be a real contest.

The Legs will be hoping Taylor Walker stays in their side and isn't promoted for AFL duty.

MY TIP: Glenelg 14 points

Has the makings to be the match of the round.

If Walker plays the Bays by 8 pts.

If not, the Bays by 8-10 goals.

Can see Walker being dropped to the Crows.

The Bays may be in strife around the selection table. Logan, Hitchcock, Seller, Carr & Meyer may be available from the AFL sides.

Mules will be back to Captain the side for the first time this season, and Cranny will be back from his short break.

Could be a lot of changes for the week.....

Unfortunate dilemma for Bay selectors, not. Who gets dropped?

Can't wait for this one after enduring the bye.

Personal opinion, but up to seven changes could be counter-productive i.e. too many ins and outs could be un-settling. FWIW I will be surprised if we get more than two AFL listed players back, who though I have no idea.

Talking to those who were there on Friday night if Glenelg rock up thinking thinking this is in the bag Norwood will do the same to us as they did to Sturt and more. Norwood will be thinking they owe us big time for the last two years underlights at The Parade.

Switch on Bays!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

There's probably a few away games that made that list too mate. :( ;)

Captain Obvious comment of the day but we really struggle with the Bays, particularly their size and strength .. Will be interesting to see whether our boys were happy with a good and unexpected win (to most) over Sturt or starving hungry to regain some respect against a quality mob like the Bays.

Yeah but it is different when it is on your own dung-hill though away losses don't hurt as much as home losses (<edit> Captain Obvious comment II). I reakon over the years (last 30) you could mark with virtual certainty at the start of the year, the Bays will beat Norwood at home and the Legs would beat the Bays at the Parade. Away wins were as rare as rocking horse sh!t for those two teams. Wins at Norwood oval are extra special as over the years it has been so hard to do.

Anyway I reckon the last two years (2008 probably 50:50 but definately last year) the Bays fans have out numbered Norwood fans at this fixture. If the Norwood fans rock up like they have the last two weeks could be a bumper crowd 7000 +.

I looked with interest at the SANFL transfers list and up came Hitchcock from the Bays to South Adelaide effective as at the end of April 2010???

toddy grima out suspended for 1 match, it should mean that trembath stays in after a good performance against north (depending on afl players availability off course)

If it's cold and wet as seems to be forecast, the match might be a lot closer no matter who you pick to win. Slippery conditions will definitely make playing a bit more of a battle for Tex Walker.

In the article that Big Phil has placed a link to, it says Alleway was also sighted by the match review panel. Can someone explain this one?

He was reported for striking young Doggies debutant Corey Reichert, but was since found not guilty as reported...

I think it was in the last term, he may have given away a 25m penalty or down field free kick if memory serves me correct...

Yes I understand that part, just not sure about the match review panel line. Anyone?

Generally if a player is reported immediatley after an incident, it is then 'reported' in the Advertiser the next day. In Alleway's case, nothing was said about it in the paper on Monday, so the line of 'Match Review Panel', in my opinion, can only mean that a review of the tape was watched and the incident was reported from there.

I know that from speaking to Shane Harris, the umpires boss, the other day at Prospect (pre-game) he said that he reviews the tapes of ALL games on a Monday, I would suggest to do his anaylsis on the umpires, but if an incident is spotted through the observation of game tapes, he then has the power to advise the SANFL who would then take it further from there I'd assume.

Love the way no one is really sure how it works. I will ask the question to a few people on Saturday that will know. To me it all sounds very dodgey. Very SANFL like.
