Ronaldson returns to Melbourne

Postby bloods08 » Wed Apr 28, 2010 10:49 pm

The West Adelaide Football Club regrets to announce that Travis Ronaldson will be returning to Melbourne immediately.

Travis has been studying via correspondence but due to recent complications in his course requirements has come to the conclusion that living in South Australia can no longer meet his educational and career goals.

This has been a tough decision for Travis to make and he is disappointed to be leaving the Club at this time.

Whilst extremely disappointed with Travis' decision, and after exhausting all avenues of possible alternatives, we understand the situation he has been placed in and wish him all the best in his studies.

West Adelaide Football Club

This is sad news for the club. Really going to test the lack of depth we have in the rucking division at the club.

With Lobbe likely to keep his spot with the Power for now, this will really test the rucking depth at Richmond...

Marc Borholm has been playing good footy in the 2's but is probably a little way off being a starting league ruckman...

He will certainly get the opportunity now to step up though with Westies not having too many other ruckman capable of doing the job...

Bad timing to have Lobbe with the Power and Brad Moran out long term for the Crows...

I'm sure West fans will agree that Ryan Willits has been struggling to make an impact at CHF and I think this will be a good opportunity to take his game to another level by stepping up in the ruck...

When he returns from his rib injury, would Ryan Ferguson be considered to play back up ruckman to Borholm perhaps ?

Massive loss. As said above, I doubt we will see Lobbe again so we are in huge strife in the ruck. Just when I thought we were getting somewhere :(

That being said about Lobbe, it's reported in todays fish wrap that he is likely to be squeezed out of the Power side for the Showdown...

If this is the case, good timing for the Bloods with their fans, no doubt, hoping this will be the case...

Who is the better choice to come into the Power side, accepting that they both play different positions, Lobbe or Salter?

Thats twice now he has left SANFL clubs through the middle of the year, though Centrals was for different circumstances.

I guess that ends his SANFL career.

Sorry to see Ronaldson go and happy to have Lobbe back in our side, but I thought he was very stiff - the bits I saw he was the most effective 2nd Ruck they've (Power) had all year.
