No More Progress Scores at SANFL Games ??

Thanks to the cold pie, warm Coke & non-moving BBQ Sizzle queue today - Prospect Oval maintained its runaway lead as worst oval for catering in the SANFL. Add to that Sturt's loss to a Alleway-inspired North and you can see I really enjoyed myself today. But what has really got to me was the lack of progress scores from other games on the Prospect Oval scoreboard. My initial reaction was the scoreboard efficiency was in synch with the catering performance. However - a quick peek at the slim-line Budget shows that no letters of the alphabet had been allocated to teams so it seems that my 40 year traditional habit of checking the scoreboard for progress scores of other matches has come to a close. Why have the SANFL done away with the progress scores service ?

Not sure why the other dcores aren't being shown this year ?

If you would like regular updates of other scores from other games, tune into LifeFM 107.9 and 5RPH 1197am game of the day covergae who will both give regular score updates from other venues.

Norwood gave the progress score to the AFL game on Thursday.

Westies gave the other games progress results as a ticker on their new age scoreboard......

Woodville Oval board had scores shown as NA v ST and WA v GL - updated at end of each quarter.

Thanks Big Phil for your advice - yep I'm well aware of the good work done every weekend by LifeFm & 5RPH. I wrote my initial comments on behalf of the 50% (including me) of the SANFL crowd each weekend who don't take radios to the games. According to cd - the Woodville Oval board did show progress scores of the other SANFL games today - so why didn't Prospect do the same? Perhaps their staff were too busy keeping the pies chilling in the esky & zapping those Cokes in the microwave....

the BBQ is the slowest BBQ in the world- has been for years.
1 bloke stands there looking stupid, & I'm sure they bake their own bread in there as well...
Yes, they're all volunteers, but the slow service doesn't cut it.

Congrats on Norths win today Wedgie but I'm even more impressed by your purchase of a hot pastie. The secret to success in life is "Not what you know but who you know" & next year Wedgie when I return to Prospect for the 2011 Sturt/North clash, I'm going to give you my $3.50 to buy my hot lunch for me !!

At least the BBQ is cooked at North. Not like the crap they serve at West.

The age old question of "who's got a Budget, who is C & D? etc.." will never be uttered again. A sad sad day in history.

As a North supporter the catering at Prospect is dissapointing, as it has been for a long time. After coming up from the bar after half time thought I'd grab a hot dog from the hot dog stand but they were sold out, so I go to the Balfours van and they were closing up as they sold out. Walk back over to the BBQ to see the usual long line (don't wrap the bloody things in paper just serve it in a serviette, paper bag or even a paper plate!), so I say stuff it and ended up getting one of the few remaining hot dogs at the adjacent stand, to which the lady advised that she wasn't selling drinks as they were warm! The crowd of around 3500 was good given it was Easter but certainly going on recent history not way above expectation and should of been easily catered for. I thought Westies catered for the 6000 the previous week really well compared to Norths effort. By the way, over 3000 for all 4 games on a perfect (weather wise) Easter long weekend when many people are away was a good effort.

Prospect isn't the only ground with bad catering, in general Centrals catering is failry ordinary as well but i know in the dogs case its a charity volunteer group who run the canteens, so i guess theres room for leaniancy.

I think the overall standard at SANFL grounds isn't the best but in general most die hard supporters don't go to games for the food service (Richmond Oval excluded).

Prospect is crap as far as catering goes, it improved for a little while and has gone backwards big time again this year.
