Well done to Glenelg. I thought the scoreboard may have been flattering to West in the end. Glenelg played the game style we played last week against the Roosters.

Cranston was outstanding. Glenelg dominated the centre breaks and Lobbe was beaten for the first time in a long while. Kirkby's hands and kicking was first rate. Kane's pace was too much for the Bloods. Westies best player, tough, maybe Pettigrew. Nat Caruso's stats were good, but didnt hurt the bays.

Dont get me wrong, the umpiring did not cost west the game by any means. However, the standard of umpiring was deplorable. Too many soft frees awarded while the blantantly obvious ones were left alone. I would be interested to see the number of Glenelg goals from frees.

Any idea why Adam Hartlett didnt play today? I didnt see him in the reserves either.

Well done to Glenelg, we seemed very flat today. No talk on the ground at all.

Two massive momentum swings against Westies when they were in control. First one was 10 minute mark in the second term when leading by 7 points, Bricknell running through the middle towards goal had 5 players to choose from...4 team mates and one Bays player....he kicked it straight to Bays player, two kicks later and a goal to Glenelg. That was the first of 5 goals in 9 minutes.

Second was about 20 minutes into the third quarter West closed to within a goal after being 6 goals down, Glenelg player tried to dodge 3 West players in the centre of the ground (clearly should have been holding the ball). Ball up Glenelg took the ball away a scored a goal. We didnt look like winning again.

Cannot blame umpires for the loss as Glenelg were too good, but one umpire in particular needs a reminder that there was 2 teams out there. Jimmy Ezards chase and tackle in front of the old scoreboard in the third quarter and not be given a free kick was a disgrace (it was right in font of me) considering some of the crap decissions that were given.

i thought it was a fairly high standard game & was enjoyable to watch, i'll be honest i thought it was a huge danger game for us because having seen west last week well they were awesome, i thought both teams played well & the basic difference in the game was that the glenelg forward movement worked more smoothly than the westies forward movement did, there is no doubt west has taken another step forward (i thought with the loss of cupido, hassan (there is another one i think) & the injured morris that west would slip back a bit but they haven't & they will knock off another 'big name team' during the year, for the bays i thought that kirkby was auditioning for the harlem globetrotters :D with his aerial display, alex grima played his best game for the club (any level) & ended up with about 4 goals from memory, great game & happy to get a win, unlike others i thought the umpiring wasn't bad as they let the game go on even when the ball was getting bottled up they let it go for a fair while

Very Crows !

Bloods can take a lot away from that game, and I feel the Bloods aren't too far off the mark !

Was a late withdrawal* from the side due to a calf strain...

Was certainly missed in defence for the Bloods, would have matched up well on Kirkby I think...

thought the umpiring like the standard of teh game was pretty good. One of the best games of footy I've seen in a while, save for the Bays v Sturt game two years ago and the Bays v Dogs draw from last year. Best thing about the umpiring was that they pretty much let the game go and rewarded the blokes who got first to the footy.

Thought some of the contested footy today was first rate from both teams the stoppages were no place for teh feint hearted. Thought Ezard and Fort caruso wre pretty good and if bennet committed to footy full time living and training in Adelaide he could be something special.

For us thought Cranny, Carr, Kirkby, Willo-B, B Kane, Al Grima, T Grima, Addlington, and Mills were pretty good. krusty and Ty Allen put their bodies on teh line time and time again.

Very pleased to get the win, will be surprised if Westies don't make the five this year.

Oh yeah, a delight to have a chat before the ressies with redandblack, a genuine top bloke.

Geezus, it's not like they got thumped and they played the team that have been winning 90% of their games for a while.

We'll have to agree to disagree then mate, I think Westies fans have been great and who can blame them for enjoying their teams improvement after the poor years they endured.
I think they'll be playing finals footy in 2010.

West are very much an improved side. I thought they were gone for all money at half time and then the Bays kicked the first goal in the 3rd to be 6 goals up.

The Bays were hard at the ball and West seemed to be faltering under the pressure, but to their credit, West then kicked the next 5 goals to get within 5 point in the 3rd before the Bays steadied.

If they can keep the belief West will be a very dangerous side this season.

The pleasing things for the Bays is that key forwards are kicking bags and there is efficiency in the forward entries ... both things were missing for most of last year.

Still very early days but nice to start with a couple of good wins.

Good to finally meet Big Phil as well.
