ok from Central the player im very interested to watch this season is 18 year old Josh Wittwer.

He has come through the junior ranks at the Dogs and will get his crack in the seniors this year. Is very similar in size and shape as Elijah Ware, he runs like the wind and has been ultra impressive in all the time trials and sprints, regulary being in the top 3 in time trials and winnning all the sprints.

His dad Troy is a CDFA/Amatuer league legend who i believe is still playing for Elizabeth in Div5 ammos aged in his mid 40's. Josh really has his head screwed on and wants to be part of a succesful 2010 campaign.

Will more than likely struggle to make the league side this year imho but he will get a crack in the league side during the trial games. If he has a really good year could see him being a top 5 draft pick in the AFL next season.

Cameron Hitchcock, Jarrod Kellock, Shannon Snook and Warwick McGinty are looking good ATM, but we do have a wealth of talent coming thru from our Ressies and U18 Premiership teams.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nick Pekin and Craig Pitt get league opportunities during the year also.

I agree about Josh Wittwer there whufc...

He was impressive in the time trials I saw him run at training a few weeks ago...

Roy Laird pulled him to one side on a few occassions and had good lengthy chats with him, no doubt recognising his talent and potential this year and encouraging him along...

A couple of other youngsters from the Dogs to keep an eye on are Tommy Dunne, Luke Habel, Jarrod Schiller, Jack Hannath, Josh Vater, Mitch Frail and Nick White.

Dunne has of course tasted league experience and I'd hope he can take his game to another level while White and Habel have really impressed in the reserves last year and I would think aren't too far from getting their chance at senior level.

We know how dissapointed Hannath was about being overlooked in the AFL draft so he has to take the bull by the horns and have a break out year while Schiller (last year's Under 18 captain I think) and Vater really impressed me in the reserves games I saw them play in '09.

Mitch Frail came over pencil thin last year and showed some promise in the reserves until getting injured, I think he even played a couple of league trials last year. Has hopefully spent some time in the gym over the summer period and bulked up a fair bit, but he certainly has some talent and is capable of playing either key position or in the ruck.

Alex Stopp and Will Young (note that Young came via mini-draft but will be with us most of the year)

Has been playing indoor soccer at my work during the off season and i think he has really bulked up over summer, think last season while being big there was lots of puppy fat on him still, where now he looks rock solid and very strong.

Good to hear those reports on young Josh Wittwer. I remember watching him kick a ball around when his old man (Flash) played with us at United from about 95-00. You could tell he was always going to be a skilfull player. Good to hear he has a bit of ticker about him by the sounds of it.

I have also kept a close eye on Scotty Lycett from Port the last few years as my in-laws are from Smoky Bay where Scott used to live. They have said that he is definately one to watch for the last few years (but anyone who is over 200cm when you are 16  is going to be looked at).
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Hopefully we'll get more than a few games out of Grigg, Evans, Stopp, Gorringe and Ialeggio. There are some wraps on Dalwood as well but haven't seen him play yet.

Over the next few years the once in a generation under 16s from last year should start to filter through as well, thankfully we've now got a coach who'll happily play them.
