Don't know if anything here has been announced yet, but according to the TerritoryFC website, the NT Thunder will play Sturt for the beyondblue Cup at TIO Stadium in Darwin on Friday March 19.

I always said they should have been our 10th team...

No one has ever addressed the issue of how the top end team would play in their off season against the SANFL.

Anyway, we'll get flogged up there. Simply because we're off season, playing a pre season game and they aren't.

Correct me if Im wrong but dont the thunder play in the Queensland league which to my knowledge hasnt started yet. So it will be a preseason game for both teams.

Even if it was the Thunders season, a SANFL side should still flog them, given it's a pre seaqson match for bothe sides it should be Sturt by how much!!

Fair enough. Finished at 11 - 7, a couple of games and percentage off Southport (2nd.) Not world beaters up there but they will improve.

Sturt to win by plenty in a match with a good cause at heart.

For any that weren't aware, ex Sturt CEO and former Wanderers player Stuart Totham is the boss at the Thunder.

It is a "trial" game

The only issue about trial game results is they are just that trial results

I rekon Centrals didnt win a trial game a few years back in a preseason and the only issue there was is that in the end is that they won another flag that year

Mate irrespective of if its a trial game I would expect to win comprehensively agaisnt a team that is SANFL reserve grade standard at best. For example our 1996 season had an eerie sense of forboding after a 2 pt loss to Southport up there in March.

I've allowed 5 goals because of the heat/humidity and travel. All things being equal it should be 10.

Blue Boy I'm not having a go because its Sturt I would be saying/expecting the same thing if it was the Bays.

The Thunder have lost some important players especially in the height (Noodles McFarlane) department after their 1st season. Soem of their key players are choosing NTFL clubs over the Thunder as they ahve the emotional commitment to their traditional clubs.

You should beat them comfortably, if your not going up there to win why bother travelling up there?
Not saying that anyone has said your not trying to win up there, but if you lose there would have to be some worrying signs for the Blues this year me thinks.
As I said though, I expect you to win in a canter.

as a sturt supporter i am not that bothered if we win this game or not. all i want out of trials games is to see some of the youngsters getting a league game to see how they can handle it up there, also i want to see whether our team will be doing anything different with the game plan or not.

agreed, couldnt give two shits if we won or lost...and id say the same for any team that was playing them.

kookas, strawb suggested on another thread that mouse will/may play for the nt thunder........i wonder to myself if glenelg will make it hard for him even though they've said they wont stand in his way to move to another sanfl club, i wonder this because obviously nt thunder isn't an sanfl club

``The heat won’t be too bad in late March and playing at night time is better than the day, so we’ll be right.’’
