Yeh its the Gordon Pickard rumour. I haven't got details.
Article is as follows:
THE Port Adelaide Magpies' short-term future will be secured with a salvation package from SA businessman Gordon Pickard tomorrow.
Mr Pickard's plan will guarantee the Magpies' presence in the SANFL this season and secure enough time for the club to develop a new business plan to survive beyond 2010.
Pickard is understood to have sought - and gained - the approval of his white-knight plan from SANFL chief executive Leigh Whicker.

Details of how it helps 'both' clubs is fuzzy but involves the ownership of the golden grove tavern. Power is definitely involved and sounds like it's working to ensure magpies also benefit.
I guess that would give the clubs a pokie presence out north. May also give magpies a chance to upgrade pow but who knows at this stage.

If true, it looks like the SANFL were right after all. If this comes to fruition then PA will be doing just as many clubs have done before when on the brink...which is exactly what many were calling for all along. I think the SANFL and the other 8 clubs will deserve some apologies. I hope this rumour is true, but look who wrote the snippet. Let's face it, the author has no cred. I'll believe it when either G.P. says so himself or PA make an announcement.

Todays papers make no mention of golden grove and refer to Pickard buying the POW and giving it to Power leaving the Magpies with up to 3 million in the bank after debts.
Not sure this is the ideal solution, but you cant knock it back.

Apparently or allegdelly he is supposed going to increase his sponsorship of the Power in which part of the deal is allegdelly that the power has to purchase the POW hotel from the Magpies....Allegdelly!
Honestly I have no idea of what the details are,

This is turning into one of the biggest beat ups in SA history, lead by Mr Rucci. Seriously, if port had historically thrown up their skirts as they have done recently they would've hardly won a game. I'm happy that they can find a way to survive but this has been embarrassing and not one of the best moments in history for the club.

Agreed. It's been a poor reaction.
I'm very happy they've survived, but they haven't done themselves any favours with how they've handled it.
We might have to deservedly award them the frontrunners tag now.

I don't think PAMFC are in a position to pick and choose who is going to help save them, or how they save them. If they knock this back and nobody else comes forward to help them, that's it you'd think. You have to take what you can get, especially when you are in their predicament. I may be wrong, but that's my thoughts on it anyway.

So when are the Port Faithfull going to come out and thank all the SANFL Clubs that they have slagged and appreciate that they have gone from a deal that would never work to a Life Line in the matter of a couple of days.

Most I imagine will but even late last night there are some morons on the Power from Port site still blaming North and threatening all sorts when North play Port. There is clearly no helping some of those half wits who if the truth hit them square in the face would still believe the type of rubbish that has been bandied about in the press.

No need to thank us, with the ensuing deal the Power are better off and should make smaller losses now which will mean smaller bail outs from the SANFL which benefits all of the clubs.

This deal suck and all I can see it doing is allowing us to survive and bringing the Merger back up in the next few years. Of course if we have to sell the hotel this is the way to do it but I can't see it being help to us.
