It'll be fine - I'm going to win the 20m lotto on the weekend.

Then buy a white knight's outfit to wear as I save the day!

LMAO -I thought about placing an add in the paper seeking the bloke who won the $56m last year and see if he was interested in helping. He lived in Seaton from memory, may be a Magpie fan?

As crazy as that might sound that is a good idea however you suspect that if he was a Magpie fan he already would have done so. If I won that much I would definately ensure my clubs survival! Go for it!

You've made a good start Booney and I sincerely wish you well. Unfortunately there seem to be too many people who are still looking for a White Knight, miraculous windfall or some other quick fix. It doesn't work like that. The fightback will only really start when you get enough people like yourself, who are prepared to roll up their sleeves and start working on it. It doesn't take thousands of "supporters". I recall only too well back in 1995 at Sturt, we were down to about 400, but they were the true believers, who were willing to stay the course and contribute their money, their time and expertise to the cause. Emotions and crowds are easy to stir up, but they seldom last when the hard work is there to be done. It will be a long, hard task. It will require sacrifices, clear thinking and tough decisions along the way, but it can be done.

Ok, several pints so I'll have a go at realying the meeting now.

Speakers -John Firth, Brett Duncanson,Tim Ginever and Greg Edwards.

The "white knight" rumour was rife and Pickard was the name mentioned. Brett Duncanson delivered ( much to my ammusement ) a very Power based "speech"......but, he did mention a significant party had moved in the last 24 hours to the PAFC ( Power for the confused ) with a proposal to help the financial situation for both clubs.
Duncanson said the PAFC ( Power ) will tomorrow morning present the PAMFC ( the Magpies ) with a "significant" offer from a certain party.( Un-named)

Balfours donated $5000 to the PAMFC, Distinctive Homes are on board in a Junior Programme sponsor capacity and the "significant" other party will be named shortly.

One overwhelming tone of the meeting was from Tim Ginever relating to the two ( Power / Magpie ) clubs. Tim said it is time for unity, the SANFL and the other clubs in 1996 fractured the club ( as did the supporters, Tim's words, not mine ) and it is high time that Port Adelaide, both the AFL and SANFL versions once again become one, in spirit. Perhaps the official line is still two clubs but in spirit we must align to ensure the prosperous future of both the black and white and the black, white and teal. ( Not the duck, Wedgie ;) ;) )

Not a bad effort for a half pissed emotional critter.

( BTW - Mrs.Boon knocked up a wicked chicken stir-fry tonight. )

Just got back in from the meeting. I feel much more positive than I did 3 hours ago.

In addition to Booney's points, I'd also like to add:

- This has awoken a BEAST IMO. The Port faithful seem to have mobilised and if the passion and support that was shown tonight and over the last week can be carried forward, Port Adelaide will continue and come back as strong as ever - of that I'm certain. We just need to get through this difficult period. The number of people purchasing memberships was phenomenal. I also witnessed a number of people give one off cash and regular direct deposit donations to save our club - WELL DONE!!!

- Brett Duncanson (Power Pres) debunked a number of myths regarding the finances of The Port Club and what goes to each part of the club. It was interesting to hear that The Port club facility actually makes significant losses, which are worn solely by the Power. (BTW, Booney - I actually thought Duncanson spoke very well and gave a relatively balanced view. I like his positivity and committment to seeing the Magpies survive)

- The most positive outcome from tonights meeting IMO was the input from City of Port Adelaide Enfield Mayor, Gary Johanson, who has pledged to come up with council support to install lights at Alberton, which would see the Magpies capable of hosting night games. This would be a HUGE win for Port Adelaide as a whole, and IMO would see the Magpies in a great position to bring in additional revenue through sponsorhip, matchday revenue etc with the introduction of night football at Alberton. He also spoke of trying to organise a deal with CDFC for round 1, whereby the Doggies would make a donation to the Magpies based on crowd size. This is probably very unlikely, but if it does come through, I hope we see 15,000+ at Elizabeth in round 1.

- There is a huge amount of resentment and anger towards the SANFL from Port Adelaide people. There was also an element of the crowd with anger towards other clubs. This is stupidity and Barry, Duncanson plus a speaker in question time all tried to quell the boycott mentality. I hope it worked, because it's a stupid, mindless, pointless thing to carry on with. Get behind your club and support your team. Buy your away tickets through the Magpies and they get the revenue - simple!!!

- Finally, Timmie Ginever is an absolute legend. His positivity and enthusiasm and ability to unite people and gain momentum behind a cause is outstanding. He spoke of his playing days when Port Adelaide was putting together the ALF bid, when he was speaking with Stephen Williams, who told him "you know we wont be playing in the AFL". Timmie said "Yeah, but imagine sitting on the couch, seeing Port Adelaide's name in the AFL". To him it's one Port Adelaide. I'm with Timmie on that one. One Port Adelaide, 2 sides in different competitions.

Lets all hope the Gordon Pickard rumors are true and that after the club's future is secure, procedures can be put in place to ensure we're NEVER in this position EVER again.

Great stuff fellas. Hopefully it all plays out positively and both club end up stronger for this experience. Sometimes it's good to get a wake up call like this.

Maybe if Timmy has have been made Marketing Manager four years ago instead of coach you wouldn't be in this situation now?

Glad to hear though that the Magpies will hopefully remain in the competition.

Sounds good guys - hopefully the darkest days are behind you

Sounds like the SANFL might have stirred the sleeping beast ... just when we all thought we had you buggers where we wanted you

If the Port players could conjure up as much hatred for the SANFL as the fans currently have, all Tony Bamford would ever have to do is wheel out an effigy of that dickhead Weigh Lhicker.
