relocation....could it work ???

Postby bayman » Wed Feb 10, 2010 8:01 pm

could port setup at a new venue altogether ?

perhaps wayville (remember the tram will be going from the port to glenelg VIA WAYVILLE) for those without cars

surely with their own ground (presuming they get a decent deal done), that this would work in their favour & the lights are already there for night footy, it could get an increase in the crowd with some people going to the footy at wayville before venturing into the city for the nightlife
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Barely! Although the google map labels Salisbury North oval as Salisbury Oval - the real Salisbury oval is a little to the East from that location, but still a few hundred metres from the zone border.

However I think the lessons on clubs being too close to each other has been learned and hopefully not repeated. There is some space around Burton or Dry Creek that they could call home but I doubt that would help them too much.

Not so long ago it was mooted by some 'dumb politician' I think about them relocating to Golden Grove, TTG or Modbury. Can anyone remember who it was?
And no it wouldn't work!

Port Lincoln definitely isn't the worst idea I've heard - it is a thriving town in the heart of Port territory. Of all country towns in the state, I'd think it's the only one that could support an SANFL team. Obviously there are a few logistical issues for travel to games, etc but nothing that hasn't already been considered when a NT team was discussed.

It definitely should be looked at if it's going to save the club.

The Magpies are already there.

Dunno if we'd be so keen to discard 130 years of history.

But quite like the sound of the Salisbury Magpies Football Club in the SANFL...

Noarlunga??

Southern Power...then the cars could be around the oval and it won't look as bad with a low crowd. Looks good on TV for the Power ;)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Well the Chinese are certainly cashed up. Just tell them there's plenty of iron ore at Alberton/Ethelton and they will buy both clubs outright! Both headquarters are in the Bogan Permitted Zone so the govt won't have a problem with it ;)

Aeroplane Jelly;
By jumpin' Je$u$, if it's not the worst idea it's got to be very, very close! Second worst at least.
Mount Gambier would be a far better option but that wouldn't work either.
