NEW FOOTY APPOINTMENT FOR DAREL HART
Veteran State coach Darel Hart has been appointed head coach of the McDonald’s U16s State Team.
SANFL Talent Manager Brenton Phillips said the appointment was an enormous opportunity for the state’s young rising football stars.
“Our players will have the chance to learn from a coach who has not only led SA to State victory three times over the past four years, but who also served as the Crows’ assistant coach during the club’s premiership years,” Phillips said.
“Darel’s playing and coaching record simply speaks for itself. The SANFL is delighted to have secured his services to promote our young talent.”
Hart said he was excited about his new coaching challenge.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in footy for awhile now and to be able to coach elite U16s and potentially develop the next Jack Trengove is certainly exciting for me,” he said.
“I’ll be working with the best players from each club who are just starting their footy journey. It will be their first contact with a really full-on training program.
“When I was a junior, Alan Stewart was a great mentor to me and has been for 30-odd years. I hope to have a similar influence on some of these kids.”
Hart will select and lead the McDonald’s U16s State Team at the National Championships this July.
