Who will be sacked or leave first in '10?

Postby spell_check » Mon Jan 11, 2010 9:59 pm

This will be an interesting poll, given there are four changes to the head coaches of the nine clubs from 2009. (and yes I included Laird, because I know someone will ask where he is if I didn't)
Also, for historical purposes, here is last years poll:

I could quite possibly see all 9 coaches surviving the year (Fuller on a 5 year contract and Bamford at a club with probably not huge realistic expectations).

i'd vote no coaches to be sacked....besides most clubs couldn't afford to part ways with their coach (central could afford it but they obviously wont be getting rid of roy who'll be still coaching them until he gets the pension in about another 25 years time & what !!??12-15 more premierships)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I've gone for Fuller - purely on the historical record of the club. Imagine if they sacked him in the first year of a 5 year contract? Oh wait on, let's not imagine that.......

The only way a coach will go this year will be if his club is gone from under him.

Who voted for Luke Norman anyway?
It's all the SANFL's fault.

If North do not finish in the Five this year, how good are Healys chances at being retained by the club?

I'd say Fuller after he tells the Panthers some home truths in round 8

Should be an option for no-one. How long does Mickan have? Based on past events you'd think the knives would be out if the Bays either didn't make or powdered in the finals.

Agreed should be no-one, Can see all coaches surviving to 2011 provided all the clubs suit up for 2011.

He has until the end of 2011. In the extremely unlikely eventuality of the scenario you presented, he will survive for 2011 unless he decides to walk away. He won't be pushed. Feel free to bookmark this for later in the year if you want to.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Mickan would have to be first in line, but doesn't really deserve to be.

Could it be Andy Collins to walk away if Westies have a shocker?

Assuming that Healy did coach for next season yet was not retained by the club that would be a two year tenure which is not all that unusual for SANFL coaches. Michael Flynn was let go as the NAFC coach after 12 months, so its not inconcievable that an SANFL club can take that action if its felt that they dont think the Senior Coach is working out with the list.

Healy has a contract for 3 years, considering North have only sacked one coach during a contract in over a hundred years I'd say he'd be safer than most.

I hope that this poll does not turn out to be correct & Bassett is the first to go.
Be it an AFL gig, sacking or just quitting IMO would be bad for the Leg's.
IMHO we had a good coach in Dale Lewis, and it depends on who you listen to why he left, it was at Norwoods loss.
We need Norwood minded people at the club in every position at the moment, and i don't think one year coaching tenures is the way to get us back to where we belong on the field.
I hope & pray that Bas is not doing the job just to further his credentials and will then walk away with the job half done.
